Endless Glove

Endless Glove

thumb_IMG_2520_1024

I recently found myself running pretty low on hand cream, which like lip balm I seem to get through at a ridiculous rate. So while in Boots I picked up this little tube of Soap and Glory's Endless Glove. I had never tried this before but with the big claim of 2-in-1 moisture mask and hand cream I thought I'd give it a go! And at only £2 it wasn't going to put me much further into my student overdraft!

Despite the fact that Spring has now started (which I only know as my Instagram feed went crazy with pictures of blossom and "Hello Spring"!) it is still pretty chilly outside. And my hands, nails and cuticles are getting desperate for some vitamin D and TLC. So the idea of a "hand mask" while sounding totally impractical was also very intriguing.

It's rare for me to talk about products that I really haven't got along with, especially from Soap and Glory. I can't rave enough about their Brow Archery, which has changed my life (brows). But for me it was not endless love with Endless Glove. They say never judge a book by its cover, but sadly before I even notice if a product actually works I have judged two things; packaging and scent.

This hand cream totally passes at packaging, pink and cute, what more could you want? It's just the smell I can't get past. I'm not too sure what scent Soap and Glory were really going for here, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't citrus, old people and a hint of courgettes. Who wants their hands to smell like that?!

I'm now using this as a before bed one as it is still pretty moisturising, I am just too embarrassed to use this in public.  How can Soap and Glory get it so right with Hand Food and so wrong with this?!

Summer Beauty Favourites

Summer Beauty Favourites

Katherine Penney Chic Beauty Blogger Makeup Favourites Summer Review Skincare Perfume Pretty Girlie Drugstore

I need to apologise for being a bad blogger, I haven't done a monthly favourites since May! I usually do them right at the end of each month, but for the last two months that has been away on holiday so it has been a little difficult. So as we come to the end of August I thought instead of just a monthly favourites I would do a round up of all the beauty products that I have been loving this Summer.

Katherine Penney Chic Beauty Blogger Makeup Favourites Summer Review Skincare Perfume Pretty Girlie Drugstore

Firstly a few skincare bits to tell you about. I am going to start with the Clinique Anti-blemish Solution as I know I have talked about this a few times before. But these last few months it has honestly saved my skin. It is a bit gross but there have been several times were I have started to feel a painful under the skin spot coming through. But I just use a tiny amount of this on it a few times a day and two days later the would have been horrible spot has literally vanished! Seriously don't know what I would do without this stuff.

The next skin care products that I have been loving is Nivea After Sun moisturiser. I've been on a couple of holidays this summer and spent quite a bit of time in the sun. I always wear suncream but after a day in the sun the moisture that your skin has lost needs replacing. I love using this after a cold shower at the end of the day as it smells and feels so refreshing. It also helps to keep a tan looking lovely.

I picked up this Cocoa Butter Sugar Scrub at the beginning of summer and I just can't get enough of it. It smells delicious, it really exfoliates my skin and leaves it feeling super soft. But what I really love about this is unlike a lot of scrubs once you rinse it off in the shower it doesn't leave your skin feeling stripped and dry. I don't really know how else to describe it other than like a residue of moisture! It is like the the sugar in the scrub melts away to leave behind a layer of moisture. So if I sometimes feel like I can skip moisturising after using this.

I really am loving Nivea this Summer! Nivea pearl and beauty is my favourite deodorant and I always carry around a little mini version in my handbag just in case it is really hot and I want to freshen up on the go.

I have a lot (under exaggeration!) of lip balms, but Nivea Hydra Care is definitely one of my favourite. it's cheap, quick, easy and you don't have to stick your finger in it so it is perfect for on the go. But it also has SPF in which is why I haven't really used any of my other lip balms this Summer. it is really important that when you are out in the sun all day to protect your lips as well as your skin. But I hate a lot of sun protection lip balms. They are hard to apply, drying and basically turn your lips this horrible white colour which is not attractive! So this one is a great replacement that just really hydrated the lips.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream is just my favourite Summer scent. I picked it up at Duty Free a year ago so it really does remind me of Summer. It's just a fresh, sweet and light scent and the bottle is just absolutely gorgeous!

When I am sunbathing or most of the time when I am on holiday I don't like to wear makeup. I am gonna be reapplying suncream, probably sweating a little and just want to be able to jump into the pool or dive into the sea without worrying if my makeup will run! however to keep me from looking totally horrific there are a few things I do.

Firstly I will pretty much always curl my eyelashes in the morning, whether I am planning on wearing makeup or not. It has just become part of my morning routine that helps me feel more awake. If I feel like my face looks like a pancake or more often the case is that my face is like 5 shades lighter than my body as I wear a much higher SPF on my face and try to keep it out the sun, then I will apply some bronzer. A little bit of bronzer can really make a difference.

Finally to make it look as if I have make more of an effort than I really have I will put a bit of colour on my lips. The two that I have been reaching for the most are MAC Patisserie and Clinique lip crayon in two ton tomato. Patisserie is just the most beautiful nude/pink shade that I probably reach for the most out of all my lipsticks. Two ton tomato is a lovely glossy red that can be quite sheer or built up to a stronger colour. What I love about this though is even after a few hours when the gloss has gone it stains your lips a slight red shade that looks so pretty and natural.

You may recognise his mascara from my what I got for my birthday post last week and be wondering how it is in my Summer favourites. But I have actually been using this mascara all Summer, just in the sample size! I just love this mascara! Which isn't something that I have been able to say for a while. I will probably do a whole blogpost on this with some pictures showing you what it looks like on. But basically all you need to know if that it is slightly more than I would usually pay for a mascara but if you can try it I really recommend it, it's a lovely one!

I picked this nail polish from Essie up probably nearly two months ago, and since then I have worn it four times, which is an actually record for me as I am always changing my nail polish. In fact one time I even wore it for a week, took it off and then reapplied the same colour! Saltwater Happy is from the Essie Summer 2015 collection and has the cutest name. And I did a whole blogpost on it here if you wanted to see some more pictures.

This elf jumbo eyeshadow stick is something that I found in TK MAXX, didn't think I could live without it and then didn't really get into it until several months later! Beauty blogger problems! It is this shimmery bronzer eyeshadow stick that goes on really smoothly and is really blendable. How I like to use is to draw quite a thick messy line on my top lashes, concentrating at the outer corner and then bringing it down along my bottom lashes. And then I just get a brush and really blend it all out. It can be quite subtle and natural but it is really pretty and very quick.

Hope you have enjoyed reading all about my Summer favourites. Congratulations if you have actually made it this far, I am pretty good at waffling! Some of the clever ones might have just looked at the first picture and understood from the title that in some way or another I really like all of these products! Anyway, hope everyone is having a good weekend. Also link in the comments below your most recent Summer favourites or monthly favourites posts so I can give them a read and find some lovely new products to try out! Speak soon lovelies xx

Drugstore Favourites - Spring Edition

Drugstore Favourites - Spring Edition

Katherine Penney Chic Beauty Makeup Drugstore Pretty Summer Review Favourites Lipstick Eyeshadow Foundation Pink

There are a few products that I am just reaching for all the time at the moment, pretty much everyday really. And I think when you are using a product that often it usually means that it is pretty good. So today I wanted to share my current Drugstore Favourites but sort of a Spring edition. And all of these products are from the Drugstore so they are really affordable.

Katherine Penney Chic Beauty Makeup Drugstore Pretty Summer Review Favourites Lipstick Eyeshadow Foundation Pink

These are the lip products that I have really been loving at the moment. Rimmel Moisture renew is an old favourite that I always come back to at this time of year. It's just a really beautiful shimmery pink and just gives a really fresh look to your makeup. Another old favourite is Maybelline coloursensational shine gloss in Cashmere Rose. This is a really natural pinky gloss and honestly these glosses are amazing. These are the only lipgloss that I actually wear. And finally a new favourite which is Revlon lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon. It's a pinky coral colour that I have just fallen in love with. It's perfect for adding a little pop of colour without being anything too bold.

I think that I have probably talked about this foundation from Bourjois a lot on my blog, but there is no harm in mentioning it one more time. I don't wear foundation on an everyday basis as I like to let my skin breathe a bit more. But for nights out and special occasions this is all that I will reach for. It applies beautiful, it lasts a long time and it just leaves my skin looking beautiful with a lovely glow. This maybelline fit me concealer is another quite new favourite. Several weeks ago I found that my old concealer was just getting a bit to dark for me and was looking a little orange under my eyes. After searching around Boots for ages for a pale concealer this is the one that I chose and I am really impressed with it. It's the perfect under eye colour as it is really brightening, it lasts well and doesn't crease and it is just a really great concealer.

These two eye creams are basically the only thing that I have been wearing on my eyes for the past month. They look beautiful on their own but they also work amazingly together. I recently did a whole really detailed post on these so you should definitely check that out here

Hope you liked this little post. Let me know in the comments below what your summer favourites are or if you have tried any of these products. xx

Perfect Pair - Two New Cream Eyeshadows

Perfect Pair - Two New Cream Eyeshadows

Katherine Penney Chic Cream Eyeshadows Perfect Pair Drugstore Makeup Beauty Review

I bought these two products nearly a month ago now and there have only been a couple of days since then where I have reached for anything else. So I thought it was about time that I shared them with you!

They are both creme eyeshadows, both under £10 and both a natural bronzey brown shade. But their texture and appearance on the eyelids is very different.

Katherine Penney Chic Cream Eyeshadows Perfect Pair Drugstore Makeup Beauty Review

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo Leather Effect - Creamy Beige
This is a new edition to the original 24hr colour tattoos which I really loved but these are the matte version. Creamy Beige is a really natural shade that is perfect for everyday. It's so easy to blend on with your fingers really quickly which is something that I love about cream eyeshadows. While this colour looks lovely on it's own what I use it for more often is as a base products. I use a little bit all over my eyelids to get rid of any veins and for a perfect even base for any other products that I apply.

MaXfactor Excess Shimmer - Copper
I had heard several people talking about this on other blogs and YouTube and thought that it looks so pretty and exactly the kind of thing that I would love. And I was right! I'm not sure that I would describe this shade as copper, personally I think it is more of a bronze and is very shimmery and pretty. I apply this with my finger as well but this is more creamy than Maybelline Creamy Beige. This one also appears almost like a wet shimmer on the eyes, which I don't have anything else like and I really love.

Katherine Penney Chic Cream Eyeshadows Perfect Pair Drugstore Makeup Beauty Review

These two cream eyeshadows are pretty different but my favourite thing to do is to wear these together. I apply the Maybelline cream shadow first to act as a base colour all over the lid, and then use MaXfactor Copper on top to add the beautiful wet look shimmer. They still look so natural together and are just perfect for everyday but the shimmer adds a little bit extra like you have put a bit more effort into your makeup. Either I will just wear these two on their own with a little bit of mascara or I will use a matte brown eyeshadow in the crease for extra definition and to blend everything out.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried either of these products and what you thought of them. Or even if you have tried them together! And if you haven't then I really recommend trying both of them as they look and feel a lot more expensive than they really are.
Lots of love xx

Maxfactor Face Infinity Primer

Maxfactor Face Infinity Primer

Katherine Penney Chic Maxfactor Primer SPF

I picked this up a while back in the huge Boots haul that I did. I saw it and remembered Amelia Liana saying this was a dupe for I think a Giorgio Armani primer. This one is a really decent size bottle for around £10 and it also has SPF 20 which for me is really important.

Since I bought this I've actually been wearing it most days. I find that it really smooths out my skin and feels really luxurious and silky. It makes any makeup that I put on top feel a lot more flawless and helps it stay in place for most of the day. Overall I think that this is a really great daytime primer, especially for this time of year when skin can be feeling a little dull and dry. This just adds a nice healthy boost and glow to that face and is still protecting you from the sun.

What I will say is that this is best worn during the day. For the evening and going out the SPF could cause flash back and you probably want something more long lasting and less silky. But for a high street everyday SPF primer Maxfactor's offering is a really good one that I definitely recommend.

Hope you are all well and looking forward to Christmas xx

Olivia Palermo Inspired Natural Makeup

Olivia Palermo Inspired Natural Makeup

Olivia Palermo has been a huge girl crush of mine for a long time. To me she is just so classy, feminine and sophisticated and has an incredible sense of style. I've always been inspired by how she dresses but recently while scrolling through photos of her on weheartit it was her makeup that really caught my attention. I really loved her natrual look with glowing skin, a subtle brown smokey eye and a nude glossy lip.

Apart from brown hair and brown eyes I don't look anything like her and this makeup look isn't an exact copy of a photo just inspiration from several of them. All products that I am using are from the drug store.

Sleek True Colour Sheen Lipstick in Barely There

Sleek True Colour Sheen Lipstick in Barely There

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

I picked this lipstick up about a week ago when I saw it and remembered Alix from I Covet Thee talking about it a while ago. And since then I can't heard or read anything else about this lipstick so I thought I would do a little first impressions and review post.

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

Firstly I love the simple matte black packaging of the lipstick and how small it is. Perfect for squeezing into a little makeup bag or clutch. The colour is a nude/coral so it is really natural and wearable and the finish is light and sheeny. I really love the colour of this lipstick and think it would look beautiful with more of a smokey eye or as part of a really natural makeup look for summer.

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

Overall all I do really like this product especially the stunning colour. Sometimes I have found that this does go a little blotchy so I recommend that you make sure you lips are exfoliated and moisturised before applying - but that is probably the case for most lipsticks. Let me know if you have ever tried any other Sleek lipsticks. I'm tempted to go back and see if they have a nice dark/plum shade for winter! xx

Today I wanted to talk about my Winter Beauty Favourites and I feel like now it is suddenly getting a lot colder it is he perfect time. I love all of the beautiful rich shades that you always see this time of year and everything starts to feel a little bit Christmassy! All of these products you can find on the highstreet for really great prices too!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick - Bluffing
This is just the perfect shade for everyday or for evening. It's a beautiful shimmery bronzy brown that takes just seconds to apply over the lid and on the lower lash line. And I think that this works really well with a darker wintery lip colours as it is still fairly subtle.

The Body Shop Eye Colour - 43
I was lucky enough to find this in the sale last year and just fell completely in love with the colour. It's a beautiful shimmery emerald green that I do have to feel a little brave to wear. But you don't see this colour makeup too often and for me this is just something a little different that looks gorgeous for this time of year.

Sleek Blush - Coral
I think blusher is essential for this time of year. At the moment I don't have a tan and my skin often looks a little dull. Blusher is perfect for giving your skin a healthy glow and make you look as if you have just come in from the cold! For me despite the name this isn't really a coral colour. But for this time of year I love slightly darker blushes that can really make a deep red or plum lipstick pop!

The Body Shop Eyeliner - Golden Brown
Firstly these Body Shop eyeliners are so pigmented and amazing for blending. I love this golden brown shade just in the outer corner and along my lower last line to add something pretty to my everyday makeup look.

Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss - Gleaming Grenadine
I picked this up not to long ago and it has already become such a favourite of mine. This is just the perfect gloss if you want a red lip without making too much of a statement. So I thin that it is perfect for everyday as well.

NYC Expert Last Nail Polish - 263 Money Never Sleeps
I saw a nail polish in this beautiful emerald green colour by Butter London a few weeks ago but I couldn't bring myself to part with £12 for one nail polish, especially now I am a student! But then a few days later in Superdrug I saw this shade by NYC and I knew it was meant to be! I think for autumnal and winter colours this is a really great alternative to the burgundy plum shade that everyone starts to wear. And this was such a bargain!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick - 128 Starry Eyed
I wore this so much last winter and I know this year it is going to be exactly the same! This really is just the most beautiful deep plum dark lip shade and I think that for their price Rimmel do some of the best lipsticks on the highstreet.

Essie Nail Polish - Midnight Cami
Another colour that I love to wear on my nails this time of year is navy. I think it looks so chic and sophisticated. This one by Essie is the perfect navy with a hit of shimmer running through it. And I really can't fault the formulation of Essie nail polishes.

Loreal Colour Riche Nude Eyeshadow - 205 Sable Lame
Don't really understand the name of this one, but that aside this really is the most beautiful Christmassy gold. And yes, I did use the C word for a second time in this post! The formulation of these eyeshadows are just so pigmented and I really can't get over this amazing gold shade. This would look perfect for the upcoming party season this an amazing red lip.

Bourjois Volume 1 Second Mascara Review

Bourjois Volume 1 Second Mascara Review

I bought this mascara a week or so ago and it's been the only mascara that I've used since so I thought I'd do a little post reviewing it. Firstly I think that the packaging is awesome. It's fun and I really loved the mirrored effect. The next thing is how unique the actual wand is. It's plastic and quite big but as you can see from the picture it kinda has these little balls as well. I'm not quite sure how it works or what they actually do but it seems to work. I like that this mascara isn't too wet but it isn't too dry either, although maybe that is only because I haven't been using it for very long.

I personally think that this mascara is a lot more lengthening than it is volumising despite it being a volumising mascara. But I prefer length to volume so this wasn't really a problem for me. However the brush shape did mean that this is quite difficult to use on you bottom lashes.

My overall opinion of this is pretty mixed. If you like quite natural lengthening mascara;s then this might be a good one, but I think the Body Shop define and lengthen mascara is better for that. But I will continue to use this because it does the job and a quite like it so I don't want to waste the product. Have you tried this mascara? If so let me know what you though of it in the comments below.
