Mad About Maroon

Mad about Maroon

That kind of Maroon berry colour is everywhere at the moment and it is my favourite shade for Autumn and Winter. Its warm, classic, very classy and a bit bold. So here's just a little peak at how I will be wearing this colour.

Jeans - Primark
Soft and stretchy and so easy to wear. I like to wear mine with a navy, grey or black jumper and some nice winter boots.
Loafers - Primark (last season, sorry)
Comfy as anything and look lovely with jeans and dresses.
Bow flats - Primark...there's a bit of a trend here!
I fell in love with these straight away. They are so cute and I think they look a lot more expensive than the £5 they actually were!
Leather Clutch - Gift from last years A/W London Fashion Weekend
This is perfect for dinners and parties. I love to pair mine with a monochrome outfit and the Rimmel lipstick as a pop of colour.
Natural collection nail polish - Black cherry
Such a pretty colour. It needs a couple of coats, but for less than £2 you can't really go wrong.
Essie nail polish - Bahama Mama and Thigh High
Bahama Mama I more pinky and it really pretty on the nails. And Thigh High is my most recent Essie nail polish and I love it so much. Its the perfect Christmassy colour, yes, I'm thinking about Christmas already!
Rimmel lip stick - 128 Starry-eyed
This is just the most beautiful colour and formula and is by far my favourite lipstick this season. I like to put it on top of lip balm and rub in with my finger for a more natural daytime look and then on matt lips for a really vampy strong colour which is perfect for evenings.

Skin care for acne prone skin

Skin Care For Acne Prone Skin

Around the age of 12 I started to get my first few spots but I wasn't really too bothered by them at the time. By the age of 14 my skin had just got worse and worse and it was really getting me down. I hated having any close up photos taken and I was pilling on cheap makeup that was making my skin even more irritated. I was spending hours on the internet Googling things like "How to get clear skin" and "home remedies for spot removal". I have very sensitive skin and it felt like everything I tried was just making it worse. I even tried just using water and this just dried out my skin and left it really painful. Nothing was working for me.

I had read about dermatologists but only in magazine and just presumed that they were for rich 30-something women. After all compared to some people my acne wasn't too bad. It was just really getting me down. I knew they were heavily made up and photo shopped, as my mum had told me millions of times, but I wanted the perfect skin of all the models that filled the pages of my magazines.

After doing my research and finding out that the consultation at my local dermatologist was actually free I persuaded my mum to book me a session. The clinic was beautiful and everything was so professional. I was asked about the products that I currently used and my diet and all about my skin. My skin was proven to be dry to medium and I was shown how to properly cleanse my skin. Apparently you should never wipe your face with a towel, only dab it!
I was then offered a pack of products, OBAGI Clemziderm at a pretty steep price. I guess the consultation was free so they do have to make their money somewhere else! I was told that the products would appear to make my skin worse at first, but actually it would just mean that all the nasty stuff under my skin was being brought to the surface and that I should stick with it if I wanted to see the results promised.

Three years on and I am still using exactly the same set of products. I have since tested a few other products, probably trying to find a cheaper alternative but just as before nothing worked. I think with skincare you really to get what you pay for, and it is worth that little bit extra to look after something that you are going to have for the rest of your life. I now order the Clenziderm set online when I need it (about every four months) as it is so much cheaper.
My advise to anyone would be to go and see a dermatologist first as it really was so helpful, and then to invest in a good quality product that is fitted to your skin type. But also to be patient and realise that you are not going to have perfect skin in a couple of days of using a new products or even a couple of weeks. It may take months and it may get worse before it can get better, but it will be worth it, I promise.

Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review

Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review

So I'm actually a drugstore makeup kind of girl mostly because I never have enough cash to spend on expensive high end beauty products. But I had wanted this for ages and after her trip to France this summer my mum bought me this in duty free! Best surprise present ever!

This being the most expensive makeup I owe I was reluctant to even use it at first! It looked so beautiful and I was so scared that I would ruin it.The colours are truly stunning, mostly shimmery but a few not. I'm only really a browns and natural colours eye shadow type person so this palette was perfect for me. Each colour is beautifully pigmented and are so easy to blend. I actually prefer to use other brushes as the Urban Decay one that comes with the set is not as soft as I like my eye shadow brushes to be.

I do love this product and it is on display on top of my wardrobe as it is just so pretty. Had it not been a gift I'm not sure whether I would have bought this myself as there are some really good dupes out there from Sleek and MUA and many other drugstore brands. But it is a beautiful palette that will take you easily from day to evening and it has become one of my makeup staples. Just like everyone else I've fallen for the beauty of this product!

New Beginnings

So this is something that I have wanted to do for a while now and I've decided that it's about time I did. I don't really know how blogging works or what I'm doing but here goes, and I hope that you will bare with me.
