What I Got For My Birthday 2018

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22...actually I think I am just feeling old! Clearly 22 is not old, it's just that I feel (and look) about 17, but suddenly I am a graduate and a proper adult! My birthday was on Friday and I had a lovely day with family, mostly chatting and eating. I was also lucky enough to receive some beautiful gifts so I thought I would share them with you. The one thing I have left out of this post is a special gift which I chose from my parents that I am going to write a separate post about. Hint: it's something I need to style up.

The first thing I opened was this beautiful jewellery stand from Oliver Bonas that has been on my wishlist for a very long time. It's gold, marble and a minimal style, meaning it is right up my street. I love how it looks next to my Roberts Radio which also picks up the gold, and I have already hung some of my new and favourite jewellery on it.

Unfortunately this seems to have sold out online, however, a similar style can be found here.

As you may know from previous post or my Instagram I have recently been on a family holiday to Naxos and Paros. We wondered around a lot of beautiful shops and I loved all of the "evil eye" pieces that despite their legend have become a trend, particularly on jewellery. This is a beautiful little bracelet that my brother picked up for me, that happens to go really well with my gold watch shown below.

I love The Body Shop products and this hand cream is divine. It smells lovely and isn't at all sticky so will be perfect when the weather gets a bit colder and I am reaching for my hand cream more and more often.

Almond Hand and Nail Cream

Some beautiful faux pearls from my auntie. I love the irregular shape of the pearls and think these will go with so many outfits.

Before I went to university I couldn't boil an egg! These days I love cooking and trying out new recipes and this Rustic cookbook looks right up my street. Also, it's going to look beautiful on display in a kitchen!

Some more jewellery from our holiday! I spotted these in a beautiful little shop in a village in the mountains of Naxos. I like how they are a bit of a statement earring, but can still be described as delicate, and selfishly because I found them on holiday it is very unlikely anyone else will have them!

I hope that you have enjoyed having a little preview at what I got for my birthday this year. Speak soon, xx

Accessorize Sale Picks

If I'm honest I haven't really done very much sale shopping, particularly for someone who loves shopping as much as I do! December sort of bled me dry and I've got a few holidays planned for next year which I am trying to save for. But last weekend I just couldn't walk past the huge sale signs in the window of Accessorize. So I popped in and emerged about 20 minutes laters with some lovely picks that I thought I would share.

The first, and my favourite is this beautiful double chain necklace from the Z by Accessorize collection. I absolutely love how delicate and expensive this looks, especially as with 70% off it really wasn't.

I think this would look beautiful just with an undone white shirt for an effortless but expensive look.

The next thing that I got was a bit of a boring purchase but I always need these! I really like to style my hair half clipped up so these grips work perfectly for that as they can hold more hair than bobby pins. And for only £1 I couldn't really go wrong!

I also couldn't resist this delicate rose gold heart necklace as in the sale in came to £1.50. And this would perfectly complement the rose gold and pink Cluse watch that I bought for Christmas.

And finally...I bought chocker! I know what you are thinking, they're probably old news now. But I never really felt like they suited me or my style, particularly the thicker velvet ones. But this one is so simple and delicate that you can barely tell its there. I really like to layer it up with a few other gold necklaces for a slightly bohemian look.

So there you have it, a few little picks from the Accessorize sale. There are probably going to be a few more little hauls coming up here and there as I have got some lovely things recently that I really want to share with you!

A Special Present

A Special Present

thumb_IMG_4447_1024

I have a bit of a special birthday present (presents!) to share with you today. In my previous post I shared with you most of what I got for my birthday. And as if I wasn't already lucky enough, I was really spoilt by my lovely boyfriend this year. I guess it is because he knowns me so well, but he has always been the best at present buying. And this year he truly outdid himself with some really special gifts.

thumb_IMG_4448_1024

So the first thing that he got me was this gorgeous dainty silver knot ring. I think he got his inspiration for this from my Pinterest account as I have pinned a silver knot bangle very similar to this! Definite boyfriend points there I think! This is so perfect though and goes with all the silver jewellery that I have been wearing recently (including my new watch - post coming soon).

thumb_IMG_4449_1024

I just love how understated and delicate this is, it's just beautiful. And I have worn it pretty much everyday since. It's by a brand called Margot and Mila that I had not heard of before. But they sell lovely handmade product product here in London that are so reasonably priced. And you can find them on their own website or on Etsy.

thumb_IMG_6450_1024

And I was well and truly spoilt as this was the other present from Jack. An original copy of Vogue from when I was born (Aug 1996). And he had it framed in a lovely cream shabby chic style frame which went straight up onto my bedroom wall. This is such a thoughtful and unusual gift, perfect for anyone that loves fashion. But also something that I am going to keep and treasure forever and take with me wherever I move.

So thank you to my lovely boyfriend Jack for these beautiful gifts. I can only hope that I will do as well for his 21st coming up in a month! (Any ideas please leave below)!

Travel Treasures

Travel Treasures

thumb_IMG_3792_1024

Today I really wanted to share some of the beautiful treasures that I picked up on my recent holiday to Marrakech. Marrakech is well known for its amazing souks and hand crafted treasures. Wherever you turned there was something new to look at, and Jack and I had the best time wondering the souks, chatting to the locals and even doing a bit of haggling!

I found the whole trip to Marrakech so inspiring, how humble and happy everyone we spoke to was and the beautiful detail that they put into everything they make. I was just in awe of the stunning interiors of so many of the places that we went, including the riad that we stayed in. For me it was a little like my decor inspiration on Pinterest coming to life! So I was so happy to pick up a few bits to bring back home with me.

One of the things I was desperate to get my hands on was a white pouf. Random? Yes. Necessary? Also yes! I had seen a few of these on Pinterest and Instagram and just love how they look. I could picture it in the corner of my bedroom with a few magazines on top! There were so many places that did beautiful leather poufs, but it was made slightly hard by the fact that I already had an image in my head of exactly what I wanted. We found a place that did a lovely white pouf, but I had to explain that it was a little bigger than what I was looking for. So he took me around the corner to his friends shop where I found exactly what I wanted!

I am so happy with how this looks in my bedroom, it brings a slightly bohemian, Moroccan touch to the bedroom which I love.

thumb_IMG_3796_1024

If you have been reading my blog for a while or know me personally then you will know that I have a bit of a thing for scraves, particularly Pashminas. There was a point when I probably had about 70 scarves (yes, you have read that correct!). Now, after a big clear out, I probably have a more manageable 20. But that didn't stop me from picking up this beautiful white pashmina. I can picture wearing this when in gets a little colder with some skinny jeans, a little grey knit jumper and some pretty flats.

Another accessory that I couldn't resist was this stunning leather clutch. A lot of the shops in Marrakech sold fairly similar goods, in fact almost identical pieces from shop to shop. But this particular shop sold beautiful leather bags and pouches like nothing I had seen anywhere else. If I had taken more money with me I could have bought everything in this shop, it was my style down to a tea. However when I spotted this grey suede clutch with metallic details and tassel I knew it was the one. I can't wait to wear this on special occasions, but for now it is on display on one of the shelves in my bedroom.

The Moroccan slippers where a bit of a random purchase, and honestly I am not sure how much wear that I will get out of them! But they are so beautiful and intricate and I think that they look lovely displayed on my pouf! I bought these from a lovely man that Jack and I spent a bit of time chatting to so I love the memories behind these too.

And finally I got myself a little jewellery box with mother of pearl detailing that are sold all over Marrakech. I actually already have a larger one of these in my bedroom which I got a few years ago from the stalls in Egypt. But I think these are so pretty and add a lovely bit of detail to a shelf.

thumb_IMG_3797_1024

This bracelet however is probably the most special piece from the trip, bought for me by my lovely boyfriend. It is just my perfect piece of jewellery, a delicate mix of elegant and slightly bohemian. I also love the back story that goes behind this.

We were looking in a really cool shop that sold vintage cameras and little nic nacks, when the shop keeper said that we must visit his friends place. I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous, particularly as the place that he took us wasn't really a shop. But when we went inside it was just amazing, more like a museum really. It was two floors holding the most beautiful collection of piece from large vases, to mirrors, to costume jewellery and everything inbetween. Every space was taken up with a beautiful treasure, so that it would have taken days just to look at everything properly. The guy told us how it wasn't really a shop but a place that was only really open to collectors.

He encouraged us to pick something out (of course!) however I was worried as I knew we were in somewhere that was way over our budget. We had come on the morning of the last day on our holiday and still need food for the rest of the day and money for the airport. In the end after what I would say was more explaining our financial situation that haggling, we were given this for a very discounted rate!

This piece is just so special to me and will forever remind me of the amazing holiday that we had.

thumb_IMG_3798_1024

So I hoped that you enjoyed seeing the treasures that I picked up from Marrakech. There is actually one more thing that I bought however I have not put it up yet so I am going to wait until then to share it on here. Hope that you have had a lovely weekend.

Elephant by Estella

Elephant by Estella

thumb_IMG_2948_1024

I wanted to share a couple of pictures of my new favourite piece of jewellery. An elephant of course! My little sister got this for me a couple of weeks ago, after she saw it an knew how much I would love it!

Yesterday I had a huge jewellery sort out, getting rid of a lot of pieces that I just wasn't really wearing anymore. I found that I am less into big chunky jewellery and wearing a lot more delicate pieces. This new necklace definitely fits that trend. It's beautiful, but a little different to a heart or something which I love. And I find that the pendent style is slightly longer which works really well with camis.

I also always used to consider myself to be more of a gold jewellery wearer however over the last few months I seem to be all about the gold. I think it is beautiful my watch which I got for my 18 birthday is gold so I feel it works nicely is all my other jewellery is gold too. And I have a couple of beautiful gold rings which I love wearing as well.

thumb_IMG_3043_1024

This necklace is from a brand called Estella Bartlett which has always been one of my favourite jewellery brands. They sell gorgeous delicate pieces for a really reasonable price. I often see her jewellery on sale in pretty boutique stores but you can also check out the website here.

I really can't get over how cute this little elephant is. Expect to see a lot more of this on my blog! xx

Pandora Moments

Pandora Moments

thumb_IMG_2703_1024

Firstly sorry for the short break, I am now back at uni in Manchester after Easter and had a few things to sort out (coursework to catchup on!). I'm so sad that my Easter holidays are over, especially when my brother and my friends at home are still off. Although it has been lovely to come back and see all of my friends at uni.

During the Easter holidays I spent a bit of time helping my mum sort out her wardrobe and bedroom. I am someone who loves to have clear outs and keep my wardrobe very streamline and my mum is totally the opposite. We found clothes that she didn't even know she had from about 20 years ago! So during my recovery from my op, while I wasn't ready to do work but still wanted to get out of bed my mum and I sorted her closet and the rest of her bedroom. I won't really go into details, it was a very long process! But we managed to fill quite a few bin bags and her wardrobe doors can now shut!

thumb_IMG_5328_1024

We also sorted all of her jewellery, which consisted of a whole morning of untangling necklaces! Sadly there were a lot of broken things and single earrings but we did find a few treasures. In the depth of one of the drawers I found this Pandora box with the most beautiful earrings inside. My mum had completely forgotten that she even had these as she doesn't really wear stud earrings. And I think she caught me admiring them, because after days of sorting her wardrobe, jewellery, makeup, books and paperwork she gave them too me!

thumb_IMG_2704_1024

The studs are little silver ones with a blue stone and look so beautiful and delicate. I have already worn them once and love how classic they look. But for now I am going to keep them safe in the little box with the ribbon on as they have become some of the most precious jewellery I own.

I should probably try and get back to my coursework now, but I hope you are all well. Speak soon xx

Life Lately

Life Lately

thumb_IMG_2096_1024

I can't wait until all my exams and interviews are over and I can fall back in love with blogging again. I am so upset that it has had to take a back seat while I revise but I guess that is just how it is. Although I did manage to get my camera out a few times yesterday so I though I would share the pictures with you.

I'm loving curling up with a white hot chocolate in my new mug and reading some magazines and catalogues. I love The White Company, they have so many beautiful pieces.

thumb_IMG_2098_1024

I've been burning this candle that I got recently while revising. Now that I have finished all of my Christmas candles it's nice to have sweet and refreshing. Also this is really pretty! Before I started to burn it there were little stars on the top.

thumb_IMG_2101_1024

I recently did an ASOS order and it arrived the other day! I already had the grey Calvin Klein cotton bra that I basically live in. It is the softest comfiest thing and perfect for lounging around the house when you don't want an underwire bra but you don't feel you can go braless either! I've wanted the matching pants for so long so I finally treated myself. They fit perfectly and are just as comfy. Now I just need the model figure to wear this!

  thumb_IMG_2099_1024

ASOS do free delivery for orders over £20 and naturally my Calvin Klein pants were under. So to get my free delivery I also treated myself to this little bracelet. Orelia is a brand that I love that do beautiful delicate and minimal pieces. Before I could only ever find them at Topshop so I am very excited that ASOS also stock this brand. This little bracelet was in the sale and I think it will be perfect for layering with some different delicate pieces.

Hope you like this little post. I have a list in my notepad of so many posts I want to write. It's just trying to find the time to write them all!

Big Shirts And Delicate Jewellery

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Shirt Zara Stripes Gold Delicate Jewellery Pretty Modern Casual Smart Classic

Hello lovelies. The weather has been so lovely here in Manchester recently, and it's nice to have breaks from coursework outside in the sun with friends and a good magazine. Another outfit post today and one that I have been wearing so much recently so I hope you like it.

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Shirt Zara Stripes Gold Delicate Jewellery Pretty Modern Casual Smart Classic

What I love about this outfit is that it is the perfect combination of smart and casual. This beautiful shirt is from Zara (obviously!) and is really loose fitting and comfy. I find that wearing this with a pair of well fitting skinny jeans and rolling up the sleeves a little gives that perfect effortless off-duty style.

For a little bit of detail to what would be quite a simple outfit I am wearing a few bits of gold jewellery. My everyday gold watch adds a masculine touch to the outfit. Yet it perfectly compliments the delicate gold rings and my beautiful gold necklace.

You might recognise this necklace from my Recent Sopping Trip post a few days ago. It's from the range Z by Accessorize which is such a gorgeous range that I would really recommend checking out if you haven't already. I think that this looks really expensive and looks great with this look as it picks up on the blue stripes.

I'd love to hear what you think of this outfit in the comments. And feel free to leave me any questions or post ideas that you would like to see in the comments below. Lots of love xx

Recent Shopping Trip...

Recent Shopping Trip...

During half term I went to Bluewater with my mum and my sister, somewhere that I haven't been to in ages. We ended up making a day out of it and arriving really early before the shops even opened and then leaving some time after lunch. I had a good look around loads of different shop but in the end in only picked up two things. But they are both this that I am really in love with so I wanted to share them with you.

Katherine Penney Chic Hollister Haul shopping necklace summer jewellery pretty boho print

The first thing that I bought was this beautiful top from Hollister. I was definitely part of the whole Hollister is the only thing you should be seen in in like Year 8. But up until a few months ago I had barely been in Hollister. Since those times I think that Hollister has done a bit of rebranding and have some really lovely things (not just a top with Hollister written across the chest) and much fairer prices.

Katherine Penney Chic Hollister Haul shopping necklace summer jewellery pretty boho print

The gorgeous blue and white print of this top is what first caught my eye. To me this just screams Summer, relaxed and beach holidays. So when I saw the beautiful cross strap back of the top I feel in love with it even more. I think this stop would be perfect for now with some dark denim jeans and a slouchy cardigan when it isn't so warm and them on the beach in Summer with some little white denim short. I think that I may have to brave the trending no-bra look with this one though!

The second and final think that I picked up was this necklace that I had had my eye on for ages. It's part of the new Z for Accessorize range which is all just stunning and to me is definitely one of those collections where I just want everything! For the last month every time I went into an Accessorize (which was pretty often) I would just go and admire this necklace. So I finally decided to just go for it and buy it.

And it was the best decision as I love it so much and I've worn it nearly everyday since I bought it! It is so beautiful and delicate and considering it was under £20 I think think it looks a lot more expensive. I like to wear this with quite plain simple outfits like a white jumper or a denim shirt and it is just the perfect classy detail to finish off a look.

Current Favourite Jewellery

Current Favourite Jewellery

Katherine Penney Chic Jewellery Style Pretty Delicate Silver Gold Rings Necklace Earrings Watch

I thought that I would share with you today my current favourite jewellery pieces. I love to accessorise with jewellery and think that it is a great way to experiment and play around with an outfit. Especially if you are like me and don't like to experiment too much with fashion and tend to stay with what you know suits you.

Above are a few of my favourite pieces. As you can see I tend to wear delicate jewellery with beautiful intricate details. A lot of these pieces re from Accessorize with exception for the Watch, the elephant necklace, the silver ring and the Pandora bracelet. Accessorize is one of my favourite shops of all time. They have so many beautiful pieces, not only jewellery but also bags and scarves etc. And I think that they are actually a really good price for the quality and how expensive they can look.

Katherine Penney Chic Jewellery Style Pretty Delicate Silver Gold Rings Necklace Earrings Watch

One of my favourite and most recent pieces is thing stunning silver elephant necklace that I got from my brother for Christmas. Elephants are my favourite animal as I think that they are beautiful anyway so I am just in love with this necklace. I can't wait to wear it in summer on the beach with a floaty white top or dress.

These white drop earrings are another favourite and I actually wore them to my first prom so I have some great memories with them as well. They are just white a gold so they go with a lot of different outfits but are great for dressing up a look.

The little gold delicate flower necklace I picked up not too long ago when I realised I was starting to wear a lot more gold jewellery and wanted to have a delicate necklace that I could wear everyday. This on is just so beautiful and looks great with simple high neck tops.

Katherine Penney Chic Jewellery Style Pretty Delicate Silver Gold Rings Necklace Earrings Watch

I have worn this pink and diamonte necklace so much. It's sort of a statement necklace but it's pretty and delicate so that it doesn't make too much of a statement if bold isn't really your style. I love wearing this with white or navy and white spotty or striped tops.

These earrings are another item that I wear so much. I love the colour and think that being little studs they are small enough to go with nearly everything. And they just add a little extra detail and look super pretty with an updo.

I wear my Pandora bracelet everyday always on my right wrist. It was my 17th birthday present from Jack after we had only been going out for a few months so it really means a lot to me. It used to be more purple but the colour has faded and one end is starting to fray. I know you can send it off to get it fixed but I'm worried that they will just send me back a brand new one and this one has sentimental value! Anyway, I like to think it is one of those items that will only get better with age. And I like to wear this without any charms as I think it looks simple and beautiful on it's own.

Katherine Penney Chic Jewellery Style Pretty Delicate Silver Gold Rings Necklace Earrings Watch

My Rose Gold watch is another thing that I have worn everyday since I got it for my 18th birthday last year. I spent hours trying to find the perfect watch but in the end I fell in love with this one. I love the pink face and how simple and classic it is and the fact that it isn't really bling with loads of diamonds.

I very rarely wear chunkier bracelets anymore as I mostly prefer delicate ones and friendship style bracelets. But this is one that I got years ago that I always go back to as it is really pretty. I love the colours, especially with that berry shade that comes back every winter.

Finally you can'y really see it in the photo but I did do a whole blogpost on it with better pictures when I first bought it which you can find here. It's so unusual and beautiful and I wear it everyday cus just looking at it makes me happy and think of the lovely day that I had out in London with Jack when I bought this. I wear this on the opposite hand to my watch but yes, I do mix silver and gold!

Hope you like this little post, speak soon xx
