What I Got For My Birthday 2018

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22...actually I think I am just feeling old! Clearly 22 is not old, it's just that I feel (and look) about 17, but suddenly I am a graduate and a proper adult! My birthday was on Friday and I had a lovely day with family, mostly chatting and eating. I was also lucky enough to receive some beautiful gifts so I thought I would share them with you. The one thing I have left out of this post is a special gift which I chose from my parents that I am going to write a separate post about. Hint: it's something I need to style up.

The first thing I opened was this beautiful jewellery stand from Oliver Bonas that has been on my wishlist for a very long time. It's gold, marble and a minimal style, meaning it is right up my street. I love how it looks next to my Roberts Radio which also picks up the gold, and I have already hung some of my new and favourite jewellery on it.

Unfortunately this seems to have sold out online, however, a similar style can be found here.

As you may know from previous post or my Instagram I have recently been on a family holiday to Naxos and Paros. We wondered around a lot of beautiful shops and I loved all of the "evil eye" pieces that despite their legend have become a trend, particularly on jewellery. This is a beautiful little bracelet that my brother picked up for me, that happens to go really well with my gold watch shown below.

I love The Body Shop products and this hand cream is divine. It smells lovely and isn't at all sticky so will be perfect when the weather gets a bit colder and I am reaching for my hand cream more and more often.

Almond Hand and Nail Cream

Some beautiful faux pearls from my auntie. I love the irregular shape of the pearls and think these will go with so many outfits.

Before I went to university I couldn't boil an egg! These days I love cooking and trying out new recipes and this Rustic cookbook looks right up my street. Also, it's going to look beautiful on display in a kitchen!

Some more jewellery from our holiday! I spotted these in a beautiful little shop in a village in the mountains of Naxos. I like how they are a bit of a statement earring, but can still be described as delicate, and selfishly because I found them on holiday it is very unlikely anyone else will have them!

I hope that you have enjoyed having a little preview at what I got for my birthday this year. Speak soon, xx

Accessorize Sale Picks

If I'm honest I haven't really done very much sale shopping, particularly for someone who loves shopping as much as I do! December sort of bled me dry and I've got a few holidays planned for next year which I am trying to save for. But last weekend I just couldn't walk past the huge sale signs in the window of Accessorize. So I popped in and emerged about 20 minutes laters with some lovely picks that I thought I would share.

The first, and my favourite is this beautiful double chain necklace from the Z by Accessorize collection. I absolutely love how delicate and expensive this looks, especially as with 70% off it really wasn't.

I think this would look beautiful just with an undone white shirt for an effortless but expensive look.

The next thing that I got was a bit of a boring purchase but I always need these! I really like to style my hair half clipped up so these grips work perfectly for that as they can hold more hair than bobby pins. And for only £1 I couldn't really go wrong!

I also couldn't resist this delicate rose gold heart necklace as in the sale in came to £1.50. And this would perfectly complement the rose gold and pink Cluse watch that I bought for Christmas.

And finally...I bought chocker! I know what you are thinking, they're probably old news now. But I never really felt like they suited me or my style, particularly the thicker velvet ones. But this one is so simple and delicate that you can barely tell its there. I really like to layer it up with a few other gold necklaces for a slightly bohemian look.

So there you have it, a few little picks from the Accessorize sale. There are probably going to be a few more little hauls coming up here and there as I have got some lovely things recently that I really want to share with you!

Speak soon xx

H&M Beauty Bits

H&M Beauty Bits

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Bblogger Beauty Makeup H&M Jewellery White Gold Makeup bag Pretty Girlie

Last weekend I made a little trip to H&M to check out their new beauty range. They have just brought out a 700 piece collection, including lipsticks, eyeshadows, face products and lots of beauty tools, with prices starting from £1.90. So naturally, I had to go and cover the back of my hand in all the different colours.
Thankfully they provide makeup wipes!

Firstly I actually love the packaging of the products, the white and gold is right up my street. It looks so sleek and expensive.
Eyeshadow is probably my favourite makeup to shop for, I love looking at all the different colours (even though I am always drawn to the neutral shades!). H&M had a whole stand for all the different individual eyeshadows. They have such an incredible selection of matte, shimmery and really glittery shades in a huge range of colour. And what did I go for? An almost matte light brown!

The shade that I went for is called Candied Almond, which I think is a really cute name. I love the warm tones and how this appears to be matte until you look really closely and see there is a slight shimmer. I tried this shade the other day all over my lids, blended into my crease and then a little along my lower lash line. I was so impressed by the pigmentation and how easy this was so blend. For the price of £4.99 I definitely feel that these are some of the best eyeshadows that the highstreet has to offer. And I will definitely be going back to try some of the other shades.

The other section that I was drawn to was the lipstick collection, again the beautiful white and gold packaging in so many different shades. I was drawn to this beautiful deep red shade as I thought it would look perfect for this time of year. The shade is called Fareham Brick and it's a matte shade but still very creamy. I wore this a couple of days ago with winged liner and lots of mascara and it looked so chic. This is beautiful to apply and lasted a good 2/3 hours before I needed to reapply. I think the deep red is a really unique shade and looks so pretty for Autumn.

I have needed a new makeup bag for such a long time now, my old one has lost all of its colour and actually looks pretty gross. But trying to find a pretty and practical decent sized makeup bag actually proved a lot harder than I expected. So when I spotted this one in the makeup section I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for. It's in a gorgeous taupe colour with a gold zip on the main compartment and a little front pocket. I am just in love with this and I think that it looks so much more expensive than it really was.

I also picked up these pretty gold eyelash curlers as my ones at the moment have definitely seen better days. Even a deep clean didn't save them this time. However these H&M ones are not what I am used to. At the moment I am finding it hard to get the curlers right up to my lash line to get a really good curl. Although I am going to keep trying with these an then let you know what I think.

The last thing that I couldn't resit was this delicate gold layered necklace. H&M jewellery is a little hit and miss for me. I find their chunkier statement pieces a bit too much. But they also do some really delicate necklaces that look really minimal and modern. This one just had the three layers and is slightly longer than most of the pendents that I own.

Hope you liked this little haul. Overall I am so impressed by H&M makeup. The prices are good, the packaging is lovely and the quality is so lovely. I would definitely recommend you check these out if they look like they are up your street. And let me know in the comments if you have tried anything from H&M beauty range and what you thought of it. xx

Big Shirts And Delicate Jewellery

Big Shirts And Delicate Jewellery

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Shirt Zara Stripes Gold Delicate Jewellery Pretty Modern Casual Smart Classic

Hello lovelies. The weather has been so lovely here in Manchester recently, and it's nice to have breaks from coursework outside in the sun with friends and a good magazine. Another outfit post today and one that I have been wearing so much recently so I hope you like it.

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Shirt Zara Stripes Gold Delicate Jewellery Pretty Modern Casual Smart Classic

What I love about this outfit is that it is the perfect combination of smart and casual. This beautiful shirt is from Zara (obviously!) and is really loose fitting and comfy. I find that wearing this with a pair of well fitting skinny jeans and rolling up the sleeves a little gives that perfect effortless off-duty style.

For a little bit of detail to what would be quite a simple outfit I am wearing a few bits of gold jewellery. My everyday gold watch adds a masculine touch to the outfit. Yet it perfectly compliments the delicate gold rings and my beautiful gold necklace.

You might recognise this necklace from my Recent Sopping Trip post a few days ago. It's from the range Z by Accessorize which is such a gorgeous range that I would really recommend checking out if you haven't already. I think that this looks really expensive and looks great with this look as it picks up on the blue stripes.

I'd love to hear what you think of this outfit in the comments. And feel free to leave me any questions or post ideas that you would like to see in the comments below. Lots of love xx

New Phone For A New Year

New Phone For A New Year

Katherine Penney Chic iPhone Case Life Pretty Stuff Luxury

Just before I came to university I was due a phone upgrade, so just before I got the train up to Manchester to went to get my new phone. I have had and iPhone 5 for the last 2 years and I think I would struggle to work any phone other than an iPhone now! I was lucky enough to upgrade to an iPhone 6 which I now love. It is bigger than previous iPhone models and a lot thinner but I can still fit it in pockets and it's just as easy to use. After a lot of standing around and staring at all the different colours I finally went for the gold one. It's a really pretty pale gold that I think looks really classy. Although the silver is just as pretty.

As soon as I got back to Manchester I got straight online to order myself some cases to protect my beautiful phone! I ended up choosing a selection from Ebay for about £2 each! So far this is the only one that has arrived and I love it! I've seen this quote a few times before and it's so fitting now that I am a fashion student! Can't want to share the other 2 with you when they arrive either.

Having previously had a phone with 16GB and constantly having problems with storage and have to delete everything to save space I decided to go for a bigger memory. I now have 64GB so I don't think I am going to be filling that any time soon. Although I did add a lot of music and all my old photos and it's surprising how much space that takes up!

Quick sorry for the lack of posts recently. I'm currently in the middle of my first lot of university exams which is getting a little stressful! But this time next week they will all be over, so expect a few going out outfits next weekend! xx

H&M Jewellery Haul

H&M Jewellery Haul

For quite a long time now H&M has been one of my all time favourite places to shop for clothes. They are such a reasonable price and I just always find something that I love, particularly the jumpers and the jeans department. However however I'd never really ventured into the accessories section of the store before. Accessorize has always been my number one place to shop for accessories and once I've been there I didn't really need to go anywhere else. And from afar a lot of the jewellery in H&M reminded me quite a bit of the jewellery in Primark; large chunky and fairly cheap looking pieces. Whereas I prefer delicate simple pieces that I hope look more expensive that what I actually paid!

However while in H&M shopping for some black leggings the other day I took a little wonder into the jewellery section. And even though at first I came across the type of jewellery that I expected to find after a little searching I managed to find a few things that I love. I think it is fair to say that quite a bit of the jewellery that first spotted where big statement (and fairly cheap looking) pieces, particularly the necklaces and bracelets. But I did manage to spot this very simple gold V-shaped necklace which I love. I usually wear a lot of silver jewellery but for some reason as we are moving into Autumn I am constantly wanting to wear gold. I think this piece looks really modern and classy and I like to wear it with a simple white V-neck jumper.

The other things that I picked up were these rings which came together in a pack for about £3 which is insane! I don't think I will ever wear then all together like I have in this photo but at the moment I love wearing a bit of a mix of normal and midi rings. I like how in this pack there is a mix of gold and silver and a mix of shapes and sizes. I also think the silver branch one is just beautiful and such a unique design.

So if like me you hadn't before then I would recommend having a little look in the jewellery section on your next trip to H&M. You might find a few little treasures! Let me know what you think of my finds or what you think of H&M jewellery in the comments below. xx
