Birthday Blazer

So as promised, here is the final part to my What I Got For My Birthday Post. I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful Reiss blazer for my birthday, but wanted to wait until I had taken some styled outfit photos before I shared it with you. I know that blazers are a huge staple for many fashion bloggers but this is actually the first one I have owned since I had to wear them everyday in Sixth Form!

I fell in love with this blazer after trying it on while I was bored and waiting for the rest of my family to finish shopping! The silky printed fabric caught my eye in an "oh, this is kinda cool" way and the rest is history. So as much as I love online shopping is it also great just to browse shops, feeling all the fabrics and trying on pieces that you wouldn't normally.

The double-breasted style and beautiful fabric of this blazer mean that is is a fairly smart piece. However, I love the current trend of dressing-down smart, tailored pieces with casual garments. I've style this blazer with a simple white t-shirt and a pair of light washed distressed denim to make it more appropriate for daytime. I also this this would look so cool with trainers or boots and even some strappy heels if I was feeling a bit fancy.

What I Got For My Birthday 2018

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22...actually I think I am just feeling old! Clearly 22 is not old, it's just that I feel (and look) about 17, but suddenly I am a graduate and a proper adult! My birthday was on Friday and I had a lovely day with family, mostly chatting and eating. I was also lucky enough to receive some beautiful gifts so I thought I would share them with you. The one thing I have left out of this post is a special gift which I chose from my parents that I am going to write a separate post about. Hint: it's something I need to style up.

The first thing I opened was this beautiful jewellery stand from Oliver Bonas that has been on my wishlist for a very long time. It's gold, marble and a minimal style, meaning it is right up my street. I love how it looks next to my Roberts Radio which also picks up the gold, and I have already hung some of my new and favourite jewellery on it.

Unfortunately this seems to have sold out online, however, a similar style can be found here.

As you may know from previous post or my Instagram I have recently been on a family holiday to Naxos and Paros. We wondered around a lot of beautiful shops and I loved all of the "evil eye" pieces that despite their legend have become a trend, particularly on jewellery. This is a beautiful little bracelet that my brother picked up for me, that happens to go really well with my gold watch shown below.

I love The Body Shop products and this hand cream is divine. It smells lovely and isn't at all sticky so will be perfect when the weather gets a bit colder and I am reaching for my hand cream more and more often.

Some beautiful faux pearls from my auntie. I love the irregular shape of the pearls and think these will go with so many outfits.

Before I went to university I couldn't boil an egg! These days I love cooking and trying out new recipes and this Rustic cookbook looks right up my street. Also, it's going to look beautiful on display in a kitchen!

Some more jewellery from our holiday! I spotted these in a beautiful little shop in a village in the mountains of Naxos. I like how they are a bit of a statement earring, but can still be described as delicate, and selfishly because I found them on holiday it is very unlikely anyone else will have them!

All Saints Leather Jacket

As some of you may or may not know, this month I finally turned 21! This is all kinds of crazy as I still get asked for ID when buying paracetamol (you need to be 16)! I had such a lovely day with my family, dog walking and then a pub lunch. And then in the evening we met up with my boyfriend Jack for a lovely meal at the National Portrait Gallery Restaurant followed by Matilda at the West end which was just incredible!

This year I was totally spoiled by all of my friends and family who got me some incredibly generous gifts. But I thought I would kick things off with a quick post about the very special gift that I received from my parents. I know that watches tend to be the gift of choice for a big birthday like a 21st. But I got a beautiful watch for my 18th and I already had a few others, so while I knew I didn't want a watch I did want something timeless.

After a trip my first ever trip Bicester Village with my best friend I stumbled into All Saints. I don't usually shop at All Saints, it's a little above my budget! But when we were in Bicester Village surrounded by Prada and Gucci, All Saints suddenly felt like a more affordable option. You don't have to study fashion to know that All Saints are pretty well known for their leather jackets, so when I walked in I was immediately drawn to the wall of leather jackets...and this one in particular!

For a girl who spends 95% of the time wearing neutrals (probably 80% monochrome!), this was a pretty bold choice. But the burgundy shade just drew me in and made me fall in love. And I actually think it is my majority neutral wardrobe which means I am going to get so much wear our of this jacket. The leather is butter soft, the colour looks great with my dark hair and the fit is perfect, big enough that I could wear a jumper under it without being too boxy. As it was from Bicester Village it was around 50%, and then when I got to the till I found it was £50 cheaper than I originally thought! Isn't that the best feeling?!

I'm so excited to wear this jacket  when the weather starts to get a little cooler. And even though this is the most expensive thing I have in my wardrobe, I believe that leather jackets get better with age and wear, so the price tag isn't going to put me off wearing this. And as much for my benefit that anyone else, I have put together a little "Burgundy Leather Jacket Inspo Board"!

A Special Present

A Special Present

I have a bit of a special birthday present (presents!) to share with you today. In my previous post I shared with you most of what I got for my birthday. And as if I wasn't already lucky enough, I was really spoilt by my lovely boyfriend this year. I guess it is because he knowns me so well, but he has always been the best at present buying. And this year he truly outdid himself with some really special gifts.

So the first thing that he got me was this gorgeous dainty silver knot ring. I think he got his inspiration for this from my Pinterest account as I have pinned a silver knot bangle very similar to this! Definite boyfriend points there I think! This is so perfect though and goes with all the silver jewellery that I have been wearing recently (including my new watch - post coming soon).

I just love how understated and delicate this is, it's just beautiful. And I have worn it pretty much everyday since. It's by a brand called Margot and Mila that I had not heard of before. But they sell lovely handmade product product here in London that are so reasonably priced. And you can find them on their own website or on Etsy.

And I was well and truly spoilt as this was the other present from Jack. An original copy of Vogue from when I was born (Aug 1996). And he had it framed in a lovely cream shabby chic style frame which went straight up onto my bedroom wall. This is such a thoughtful and unusual gift, perfect for anyone that loves fashion. But also something that I am going to keep and treasure forever and take with me wherever I move.

So thank you to my lovely boyfriend Jack for these beautiful gifts. I can only hope that I will do as well for his 21st coming up in a month! (Any ideas please leave below)!

What I Got For My Birthday

And I'm back...just under a month later! I am such a awful blogger, but I'm back with a really exciting post. I have finally left my teens! I say finally, but really I was quite emotional about the whole thing. I do not feel ready to be a proper adult!

But "What I got for my birthday" posts and videos are some of my favourite to read/watch, so I have put together a little one of my own. As always a little disclaimer, I am not trying to brag about anything. I was incredibly lucky this year to get some really stunning gifts. Mostly white and pastel as my family and friends obviously know me very well!

My my little sister I got this stunning white little tray, which I am sure you will be seeing a lot more of on here as it will be so useful for blog photos. I got a few candles, all white and all smell divine. I light a candle almost every night before bed, especially as it gets darker and colder so I cannot wait to start burning these. And then I got some absolutely stunning jewellery from some of my favourite places, Estella Bartlett and Accessorize, featuring some of my favourite things, stars and elephants!

Estella Bartlett do some of my favourite jewellery pieces. Everything is so delicate and beautifully made, but they also do some lovely cute designs. And after a long love affair with gold I am really getting back in to wearing silver jewellery.

And I couldn't not show you a close up of these absolutely adorable elephant earrings. I know that my elephant obsession is a little crazy, but these are just the cutest. And still so delicate and subtle.

Displaying all of my new beautiful white candles on my tray. The little one at the front is made in Sevenoaks, my little home town! And I am actually burning the big glass jar one from Next as I write this post - it smells divine.

Of course I was lucky enough to get some lovely bath bits. My little sister got me the Body shop products as she knows the shea butter scent is my favourite. And at the moment it is a little too hot but when it gets colder I can't wait to start having bubble baths with this huge bottle of Sanctuary Spa!

My girls at uni were so generous. And they obviously know me so well! I got the softest and most comfy pair of lounge pants, and they are grey and white striped with lace trim; very me! And the pastel pink pouch feels so luxury and beautiful made.

And some lovely home bits. How pretty is this little mug? I'm going to keep this one by my bed and use it for my green tea before I go to bed.

 

And finally a couple of books. As I am working in London I would really love to try and tick off some of the places in this really cute book my John Sykes. And then a Vogue colouring book! I actually really love colouring in the evening before bed while I watch some Netflix. It's so therapeutic and relaxing.

So I hope that you enjoyed having a little peak at some of the presents I got for my birthday! I was incredibly lucky this year. So sorry I seem to have taken a little bit of a break from blogging at the moment. I'm finding it hard to find the time to create the posts that I want to write. But hopefully soon things will have calmed down here and I will get back into more of a routine.

What I Got For My Birthday

What I Got For My Birthday

As promised here is my what I got for my birthday blogpost. I was ridiculously lucky this year and got so many amazing things that I have wanted for such a long time. But first a quick disclaimer just to say that I am not trying to show off about any of the presents that I received this year. I know how incredibly lucky I am and I am so grateful.

So the first thing that I want to talk about is my new Macbook! Omg, I can't believe that I am actually saying that! I have been working a lot in retail over this summer and have put most of my earnings towards a Macbook Air 13' which now has this beautiful marble skin from Clique. For my birthday my parents have also kindly contributed some money towards this. I am so excited to take this to uni and have something portable that I can work from. 

The next few things I got were some beauty and makeup bits, my family know me so well. My brother (with a bit of help!) got me the Roller Lash mascara from benefit. I have been using my samples of this from a magazine for ages now but they are basically running out. I wouldn't usually spend this much on a mascara but this one is so amazing and I will probably do a whole blogpost raving about it sometime soon!

My parents got me the Naked 3 Palette which I am just over the moon about. I actually let out a little squeal when I opened this present and everyone just laughed at me! I have the Naked 2 palette and it is just my favourite and these pinky purple shades just look stunning. My mum also got me the awesome mojito flavoured lip balm about which is so cute!

My sister bought me my favourite Body Shop products. This shower gel just smells incredible and reminds me of summer as I used it all last summer. And I love this little lip balm which is really lovely and moisturising. 

This is a book that I had dropped so many hints to my parents that I wanted. I love these kind of books with life and style tips and it also looks beautiful on my bedside table. I have always loved the simplicity of Parisian style and I can't wait to sit down with a cup of tea and this book. My mum also got this super cute sunglasses case with Audrey Hepburn's eyes. I think it is meant to be a glasses case but I don't wear glasses and just hope my sunglasses will fit in this! 

I also got some beautiful jewellery. My family can tell that I have been loving gold right now! The earrings were both from my sister and they are so pretty and quite delicate. The bracelet I actually spotted in a little shop in Kefalonia, so my mum must have snuck back into the shop to get it for me. It is so beautiful and delicate and I think it will look lovely next to my gold watch. 

At the beginning of Summer I was lucky enough to go with my mum to the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibition. It was the most incredible exhibition that I have ever been to, the whole atmosphere, the layout and the sheer talent of such an incredible designer. So my mum went back and got the book made for the exhibition so that I would never forget it. She is so cute!

My brother also got my this cocktail mixer which is so cool. I just need someone to teach me how to use it!

Strange story, so a few days before my birthday I got this mug with my blog name on it which is really cute. But there was no note inside saying who it was from so I have no idea who got it for me! My boyfriend and family are all swearing it wasn't them! So if you know who it was or if it was you then please tell me, I want to thank you!!

My sister also found this adorable shabby chic style vase which fits perfectly with my bedroom. 

My dad got me a very useful phone stand for my car, typical dad! I am always using my phone for directions but it is hard when you can't actually see the screen like a Satnav. So now, problem solved! 

I also got some money from both sets of grandparents so I put it together and treated myself to a Nutribullet. Something that I have wanted for ages. Last night I made my first smoothie with it which was so cool. I also had a little read of the booklet that comes with it and has lots of different reciepe ideas. So today after work I am going to head to the shops to get lots of yummy healthy things to make my smoothies even better. I have to be honest I am a little bit scared of putting spinach into a smoothie, but I will still give it a try!

My Auntie for me this lovely cushion which a huge K on it which I just love. I have seen loads of homewear with letters on and think that they look so cool. 

And finally I got his absolutely beautiful throw which I chose from Urban Outfitters. In September I am moving into a house with all of my uni friends and we have really nice rooms with double beds. I thought this throw would look lovely in my new room in Manchester. I love the colours and the bohemian feel to it. Now I can't wait to get all the other little bits and pieces to decorate my room. I feel a trip to IKEA coming soon!
