Garnier Honey Treasures

Garnier Honey Treasures

thumb_img_4486_1024

I thought that considering I repurchased these yesterday, it was about time that I wrote this post! I bought these back in Summer when my hair and skin were both in need of some serious rehydration, and I thought this collection my do the trick.

I love honey, and it is actually fairly healthy, particularly good for a sore throat. I have also read that is is good for your skin to, for moisture and fading scaring. I even once went as far as smearing honey all over my face as a face mask, after reading something on Pinterest probably! And I remember it actually left my skin feeling very moisturised. I also remember that is wasn't worth the mess it created (honey drips off the face!). Either way, the idea of using some kind of honey in a beauty product intrigued me.

The body moisturiser is lovely. It doesn't smell too over powering so it is perfect to put on after a morning shower and then spray some perfume on. But what I really love is how moisturising it is considering how quickly it sinks into the skin. I love moisturising, no one wants dry flaking skin, especially at this time of year. But the whole faff of moisturising and then waving your arms about while it sinks in before you can put your clothes on is just a pain! Particularly at this time of year when it is freezing! So in that sense I love this product, it's brilliant. I pat myself down after a shower and then apply this really quickly while still in the shower so I don't have to meet the cold air for as long as possible. And then by the time I am out and have decided what I'm wearing it has already sunk in!

The hair mask is just as great and low maintenance. It takes 3-5 minutes, although sometime I leave it on a bit longer if my hair needs some extra care. I apply this and almost massage it in to the ends of my hair after shampooing. And then while I wash my face and body and exfoliate I just leave it in. So by the time that I have finished the rest of my shower routine it is ready to rinse out. After using this my hair feels and looks a lot healthier and most nourished.

For the price point I think both of these products are pretty amazing. And the fact that they make two quite tedious, but fairly necessary tasks so quick and simple is a huge selling point! Would definietly recommend!

Spring Shade

Spring Shade

thumb_IMG_2739_1024

So I actually got my hair recoloured over a week ago now while I was still at home, but coursework and life have meant that I am starting to fall behind on blogposts. Either way I thought I would share a couple of photos with you now.

At the end of last Summer I took the plunge and first dyed my hair. I say dyed, but what I really got was something called Balayage, a mix of highlights and ombre all the way through the hair. I still wanted to keep my natural colour, but add some depth and lighter shades too. I was so happy with the results, and how the colour made my hair look healthier and glossier. So last week I got a trim and the same again but slightly lighter.

Once again I love the results, particularly when I have curled my hair like this and you can see all the different shades. I know that dyeing hair isn't the healthiest thing, however I am careful about looking after my hair and making sure that it stays as hydrated as possible. I like to use a hair mask almost once a week as well as serum and leave-in conditioner whenever I wash my hair.

Please let me know if there are any hair products that you love to use, especially ones for hydration. For now I am so happy with my new look for the new season and hope you like it too. Speak soon xx

New Hair For The New Season

New Hair For The New Season

For ages now I have wanted to do something a little different with my hair. I am very lucky in that I have naturally pretty thick long brown hair that is usually straight but holds a curl easily. But whenever I go to hair hairdressers for the past few years I have always asked for the same thing, about an inch off the length with he layers but back in.

This time I still had a trim just to keep my ends healthy as I have decided I want to try a grow my hair a little longer. But I also had some colour and highlights put in. I still wanted my hair to look really natural but like I had been on holiday and it had been bleached a bit in the sun.

I went for something called balayage which is gradual and natural looking highlights, meant to mimic that sunkissed hair look. I have a few very subtle highlights at the top to add some definition to my natural colour and then towards the length of the hair I have some much lighter highlights. The overall look is still very natural though.

As it was my first time ever dying my hair I didn't want anything to dramatic, so I am really happy with the way that this has turned out. Next time I might decide to get some more lighter highlights of even more of an ombre effect.

Here I have quickly curled my hair using my Babyliss curlers and I love how the curls show off the highlights even more. Hope you like this little post. My best friend who I haven't seen for over 3 months got back from America yesterday! This morning we went out for a lovely brunch with our other friend and this afternoon we are probably going to do some baking and then have a girlie sleepover with a chick flick and stuff our faces with whatever we decide to bake!

A Little Accessorize Trip

A Little Accessorize Trip

Yesterday I had to go into town quickly to pick up a few bits and pieces. While I was waiting for my mum I went into Accessorize one of my all time favourite shops and found two things that I have been looking for for ages.

The first thing was these hair bows. I've seen quite a few of these around again and I wasn't too sure at first. They remind of when I was about 11 and I had satin pink ones from New Look that I used to clip back a random bit of my hair from the front! Does anyone else remember that?! But recently I've been seeing them in more sophisticated colours and fabrics and I really like them. I'm not really a fan of the ones bigger than this but I think these would be perfect for adding something extra to a simple ponytail (which are all over the catwalks this season) or a half up half down hairstyle.

The second thing was this black clutch with gold studded flowers on the front. During summer they did this same bag in a few pastel colours and I really loved the white one but I didn't no when I was going to use it so I left it. I off to university in a few days now and I have been looking for a little black clutch that I can take with me on nights out. This bag is absolutely perfect and when I saw it I feel like it was love at first sight! Firstly I love that this is not a structured clutch as I thing I will be able to fit a lot of stuff in here. And I like that this has two separate compartments. Secondly this has a popper and zips which should mean that my stuff stays safer in the evening. One of the most important things for me when looking for a black clutch bag was that it had a long strap, which so many didn't. This one is just perfect as I can detach the strap when I don't want it and just use it as a clutch. And if I am going out and dancing I can wear my bag across my body and still have both hands free, plus it is less likely to be stolen that way. The strap folds up pretty small so I could keep it in the front pocket and just attach it during the night. And finally I think that the studded flowers on the front are so pretty and just a little bit different. And the bag goes really well with my new watch!

Hair Curling With Straighteners

Hair Curling With Straighteners

At the moment I am really trying to make more of an effort with my hair and one of the things that I have always loved the look of but never been able  do is curling my hair with straighteners. I already have some amazing hair curlers which I know exactly how to use and I love the look that they give. But I think that curling with straighteners gives a lovely different look that is maybe a bit more natural.

You can't even begin to imagine the number of video tutorials I have watched on how to do this, but I think that everyone does it slightly differently so I was always getting confused. I've tried this in the past but failed miserably and so this is the first time that I have stuck with it and done all of my hair. I know it's not perfect at all and I have a lot of practicing to do but I really like the way that this looks. And I think that if I keep trying it then hopefully it will only get better and better.

I actually wore this hairstyle out to a party so here is a seflie that I took were you can see my hair and makeup :)

Day Old Hair

Day Old Hair

This morning I had one of those break through beauty moments, like when you finally work out which products is making you skin look so good or you've just mastered gel liner. I woke up looked in the mirror and actually thought my hair looked nice! I'd roughly curled my hair in about 15 minutes the morning before and without washing it or anything I'd just fallen asleep.

I use hair curling tongs to curl my hair and even though I'd had them for a couple of years now I can't seem to work out how to do a loose curl. I either get pretty tight curls that make my hair look huge or funny kinks in uneven places, there's no in between. Does anybody else have this problem? I think it's because my hair is very thick and holds a curl very well. But I think I have finally found a way to get that perfect beachy wave that I want so badly. And the trick is to curl your hair the day before and sleep on it! Means I don't have to bother washing my hair, a bit of dry shampoo bit sort that and it's one less thing to have to do in the morning while I'm rushing to get out the door!

I'll admit it looks a bit messy and maybe you can tell that my hair is a day old, but I like how it doesn't look perfect, it makes it more natural. Let me know in the comment below if you've ever tried this or you have any quick hair tips to share.

Oh My Aussie

Oh My Aussie

I've never really been a hair care obsessive and I guess that's because I found my ideal hair brand almost 4 years ago now. I do try out some other products every now and again and mix up my hair serum with my other Toni&Guy one, but I will always come back to Aussie.

I don't think Aussie is for everyone, but I have very thick, long hair and Aussie just works perfectly for me. When I was in my early teens and starting to mess around with straighteners and curlers my already naturally dry hair began to get even drier. And being my stubborn teenage self and often refusing to get my hair cut as I wanted it as long as possible probably didn't help either! I started trying out lots of different hair brands, but none of them really worked. Head and Shoulders gave me an itchy scalp which eventually led to dandruff, Herbal Essances smelt lovely but never really did much for my hair and TRESemme seemed to make my hair fall out! And at the height of my teenage hair disaster my mum even dragged me to the salon and spent a small fortune of some high end shampoos and conditioners, but none of them were any better than anything from Boots.

Eventually I found Aussie after it was recommend by a friend with similar hair to my own. And I have never looked back. If you have thick or dry or frizzy hair then this is your brand. Like all hair brands they do have different products for different types of hair, coloured, dry, damaged etc, but essentially this is the hair type they seem to be catering towards. So if this is you and you haven't already found your perfect hair brand pop down to Boots and give Aussie a try. And if you only try one thing make it the 3 minute miracle moist conditioner, I don't know what I would do without that stuff!
