Two Tops from DressLink

Two Tops from DressLink

When it comes to dressing I am all for affordable fashion that looks classy and expensive. So when I was recently sent a couple of pieces by DressLink I felt very lucky to be introduced to a brand that offers exactly this. Somewhere that you are able to find a whole outfit for under £20!

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Tops Autumn Winter Jumper DressLink Ad

The first top that I chose what this long sleeved black jumper with a chiffon underlay. I never really used to wear a lot of black but recently I am coming to understand why it is such a popular colour. It feels so expensive and classic especially in the design of this jumper. I also love the grey and white style but I have so many grey jumpers I thought that I would try and branch out a bit! This jumper is perfect for this time of year and has the 3/4 sleeves which I find the most flattering style. The pictures in the bottom left shows how I styled this one day. Medium skinny jeans and a thin beige gilet with some gold jewellery.

You can find this top on the DressLink website here. And it's less than £4!

The second top is more classic Katherine, pretty, floaty and pastel! I love the shape and of course the gorgeous pleated detail on the back. As you can see in the last photo this top just makes me want to spin like a princess! I styled this top with some black skinny jeans and back heeled boots which I thought would be perfect for an evening out. I also put my hair in a low messy ponytail to add to the casual relaxed look.

You can find this beautiful blouse here on the DressLink website for again less can £4!

Hope you guys like these two tops and how I have styled them. Expect to see them again soon in some more outfit posts as I can't stop wearing both of these. And go and check out all the lovely affordable clothes on the DressLink website here

New Work Uniform

New Work Uniform

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Work Joules Stripes Preppy Tops Summer

Today I started my new job at Joules. I had a great time learning how to use the till which is something that I have always wanted to know how to do, and all the staff are lovely so I am so excited for my next shift. But the most exciting part of today was getting to pick my outfit. I had £100 to spend on clothes and then £50 to spend on accessories. How amazing is that?!

I decided that I would just get some tops as I can wear my own jeans as part of my uniform. So I thought I would show you everything that I got. It's like another haul, apart from I didn't have to pay for any of it which is even better!

For those of you that don't really know the brand Joules it is quite a smart brand, similar to Crew. I would describe the style as being smart, preppy and lots of stripes. So basically perfect for me. But despite that it is not a place that I shop at too often. It can be quite expensive, especially for a student and it is aimed at a slightly older target market then myself.

However I found so many things in the store that I really liked and it was hard to get it down to just these four tops. I can already tell that I am going to be getting good use out of my 50% staff discount!

The first top that I picked out was this t-shirt that I had spotted when I first went for my interview. It's just a simple grey tee that fits so well and say "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" in gold. I just thought this was so cute and perfect for summer.

I also picked out this lovely simple grey necklace. This looks so lovely with all of my stripey tops and I think I will wear this for evening outfits too.

I love the combination of these two. So simple yet so pretty.

And the other three tops that I got turned out to be the same just in different colours! But I absolutely love the fit and the quality of these tops and for £25 I think they are very well priced. I picked up a navy and white, a pink and white and a navy and white block colour one. Yes they are very similar and I probably could have been a bit more adventurous. But I know I will get so much wear out of these, not just for work. And they will look great layered under jumpers and cardigan of over a little shirt with the collar poking out, which is very Joules!

So I feel like I have satisfied my stripes obsession, at least for now! And I still have another £20 to spend on accessories so I might look at the scarves next time. Hope you liked this post. I'm not sure how exciting it will actually be to read for other people but I am just so excited that I got so much lovely quality new clothes without having to spend a penny!

I did also make another little purchase today! Typical me spending money before I have even been paid. But this is something that I have had my eye on for a while and it started selling out very quickly so I just went for it and bought it. No regrets and all that! So I can't wait to share that with you in a separate post coming soon. xx

New Zara Top

New Zara Top

Katherine Penney Chic Zara Top Evening Pastel Pretty Fashion Outfit Style Spring Luxury

The other week I was in London making a quick stop in Zara when this beautiful top just caught my eye. And I think that this is the quickest purchase that I have ever made because I had to go and meet some friends but I also knew that I couldn't leave this top behind. I tried it on in about 2 minutes!

Katherine Penney Chic Zara Top Evening Pastel Pretty Fashion Outfit Style Spring Luxury

In some ways it is a similar kind of style to the Zara top that I showed you right at the beginning of the month. It's the same kind of fabric, has the same back fastening and looks great with a pair of black jeans. I think Zara come out with a few of these kind of smart style tops. They are so flattering and the fabric is really lovely and heavy so they have a lovely quality to them.

What caught my eye in this top was the beautiful colours, the natural pink, the black and white and the gorgeous teal shade. I thought this was perfect for this time of year and the transition from cold to warmer weather.

As this top is quite drapy and loose fitting I like to pair it with some super skinny jeans and my little black heeled boots. And as I wanted to top to be the focus of my look I kept my jewellery really simple with just my everyday gold watch and Pandora bracelet and some little drop earrings from Accessorize.

I kept my makeup really simple and pretty as I didn't want anything too bright or bold as the colours of this top are pretty muted. I used my Bourjois healthy mix foundation for dewy looking skin and Mac Patisserie on my lips for something nice and natural.

For my eye makeup I chose to use my Too Faced Bourdoir Eyes palette and opted for the pinky shimmery shades. I still kept it quite light and pretty and then just used lots of my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara for beautiful fluttery lashes.

Hope you liked this little evening look with my latest Zara purchase. I can't seem to find this exact top on the website but they do have the same top in a different colour palette that has now gone into sale which you can check out here. Happy Sunday! xx

Hollister Steals

Hollister Steals

Now that I am a student it means that I shouldn't really be spending my money on shopping, especially not in places like Hollister! But on Friday after a day of lectures that was where I found myself. I've always loved Hollister clothes and their casual Californian but preppy style is totally up my street. And as I wondered into the gloomy shop I was pleasantly surprised by sale signs leading me towards a really good sale. I tried so many different things on, so much so that I had to do two trips to the changing room! But in the end I chose these two basic tops.

You may be wondering why I chose these rather boring looking tops over some of the other beautiful things that they do in Hollister. Like I said I tried a lot of different things on but these two tops just fit perfectly. And even though they are both pretty basic I think that the fit of them makes them look expensive and beautiful. I know I am going to get so much wear out of both of these not just next summer but even now for layering under jumpers, cardigans and scarves.

And the best part was these weren't only on sale for £14 each but also for a limited time Hollister were offering a 20% student discount!

The cut of the V-neck on this top is so flattering

I love the shape of this top and the simple details of the buttons, pockets and cut rolled edges.

New Spring Top - Tescos

New Spring Top - Tesco

I was just wasting some time in Tesco waiting for my dad when I saw this top and fell in love straight away. It's so pretty and just the perfect pastel pink for Spring time. And I love all the tiny cut flowers that have been sown on to the top. The shape is also really flattering and I think that this would look lovely with jeans or denim short in summer. I actually think that this looks like something that you could buy at Topshop and all the details, like the flowers being different sizes make it look really expensive. And the best part of this is that it was only £16!

So places like Tesco might not be the obvious place to shop for some new Spring wardrobe editions, but you can really find some amazing pieces if you just have a look. And at the fraction of the price of somewhere like Zara or Topshop. Plus the likelihood is that nobody else will have it!

I am so happy with this top and for someone who only really layers plain and striped tops this is a really fun piece to have in my wardrobe. Hope the sun comes out soon as I am so desperate to show this off! Might need a little hint of gradual tanning moisturiser first though!
