The Summer Mini

The Summer Mini

thumb_IMG_3705_1024

It is really sad how long ago my holiday to Marrakech feels after 5 solid weeks of work. But I am back again with another Marrakech post which is sort of helping me to relive the amazing memories.

I really wanted to share my favourite Summer skirt which I have been wearing so much this Summer. As much as I love a great pair of jeans or shorts there is something about wearing a little skirt or dress that just makes me feel pretty. This one I picked up from Zara a few months ago is gorgeous. It's got a beautiful textured stripe print and is in a fairly weighty fabric that feels expensive and means that I don't have to worry about wearing this on days that are a little more windy! And I find the A-line shape really flattering and not to short so this could be dressed up for smarter occasions.

I wore this outfit on our last full day in Marrakech, when we decided to leave the old town and go and explore the beautiful Gardens of Majorelle. The botanical gardens are amazing with all the cacti, amazing fountains and the gorgeous mix of cobalt blue and yellow. It is such a peaceful and magical place to walk around and we caught some lovely footage for our video which you can watch here.

Hope you enjoyed this short little post. I have a final Marrakech post and my favourite outfit from the holiday coming up soon. And then a few more posts planned for you too. Speak soon xx

Autumn Daze

Autumn Daze

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Pretty Preppy Autumn Cute Love Topshop Skirt Ootd

So the preppy Autumn outfits just keep coming! I'm lucky that I managed to take these photos before the weather in Manchester has gone a bit rubbish.

I feel like I am actually making more of an effort to not just wear jeans and jumpers this season. This skirt from Topshop that I bought recently is perfect for a slightly smarter everyday look. I love the fit, cut and texture and think it looks great with a pair of black tights now that it is getting colder.

Today I paired this skirt with a light denim shirt and my ASOS coat. I have kept everything quite simple and tailored and love the preppy style of this outfit.

Of course I have my Longchamp handbag. I haven't used anything else in weeks! This bag is amazing  for carrying all my stuff around, including my huge camera that was used to take these photos.

I haven't worn these shoes in ages and I had forgotten how cute they looked for this time of year. They really add to the preppy style. I got these a few years ago from Primark and always bring them out for Autumn.

Finally I wore my sunglasses as despite the chill it was still very bright, and of course my gold watch. I love wearing sunglasses on my head, especially on days when my hair isn't really cooperating! But right now it is too dark and grey to get away with wearing sunglasses. Celebs can get away with wearing big black sunglasses all year round, but I'm not sure I can really pull that look off. So for now the sunglasses are going away and there will be an umbrella taking their place in my handbag. xx

The Winter Skirt

The Winter Skirt

Another preppy Autumn outfit post today, featuring my new skirt from Topshop. I made a decision a couple of weeks ago that I was going to make more effort to wear skirts and dresses for the rest of this year. Don't get me wrong, I love skinny jeans and a big jumper for the colder months as much as the next person. But last year it was literally all I wore! So this year I am trying to switch it up a bit more, be a little more adventurous with my fashion choices. Maybe sometime soon I will start wearing colour, although that could be pushing it!

I spotted this skirt while browsing though the Topshop website a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with it. It's in a jersey herrringbone fabric so it feels thicker and a bit more Wintery. And it has the A-line shape which I find looks the most flattering on me. I think this will look lovely with black tights, a woollen scarf and a coat.

On this day I paired the skirt with my H&M jumper and my Zara fur gilet and some maroon loafers which you can't see. I also went bare legs which paid off as the weather in Manchester has been so strange recently and it was a really hot day. Almost too hot for the jumper! I also wore my everyday basic jewellery and my Longchamp handbag.

Sorry that I haven't been posting quite as much recently. Now I am back at uni it is hard to find as much time and I have so many outfit posts and bits and pieces that I want to share with you! My house also doesn't have wifi yet so I have been going to the library pretty much everyday just to use the wifi! Although I am actually really enjoying taking my laptop and my books and walking to the library in the Autumn sunshine, especially if I am wearing something a little preppy like this outfit. Makes me feel like I am back at school again!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. I actually cannot believe that it is October already! I need to start planning my Halloween outfit pretty soon! xx

Katherine Penney Chic Summer Fashion Style Simple Classic Denim Shirt Skirt Leopard Shoes Zara Forever 21 Pretty Luxury Cute Flowers

Today after a long morning of revision I went to meet a friend for a coffee in town. I say coffee, but really I ordered one of those delicious iced chocolate drinks with cream and sprinkles on top! Today the weather has been so gorgeous and it finally feels like I can start wearing all of my summer clothes.

If you read a few posts back then you may recognise these shoes which I did a whole post on when they first arrived. And if you want more details and better pictures of these new shoes that I am totally obsessed with you can read my post here. So today I thought I would put a summery outfit together with my my new shoes. And I hope you like it.

As the shoes are quite bold I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit nice and simple. The skirt is one that I picked up last year from Forever 21. It's in a lovely stone colour and a really flattering shape which means it goes with so much in my wardrobe. The little bag that I am wearing is about 5 years old! I remember seeing it and thinking that it looked exactly like a Chanel one. It is a copy (probably not the best) but now I just wear it as it is white, pretty and practical if I don't need very much stuff.

My denim shirt it another recent purchase (I'm so bad!). I'd wanted this for ages but very few Zara's seemed to have it is stock, so the last time that I saw it I grabbed it. It's quite a thick denim material so it feels really nice quality and I love the beautiful pale shade of denim. I also love the little poppers and my favourite way to wear this is with a couple undone and then rolled-up sleeves.

A Rather Large Collective Haul

A Rather Large Collective Haul

At the moment I am doing a fashion buying course in London which has been so much fun and I have met some really lovely girls and definitely learnt a few new things. The course in right on Oxford Street which means that in our lunch break and afterwards and have managed to do a little bit of shopping! I was in desperate need of a few holiday things like bikinis and sunhats before I go on holiday on Sunday and I honestly thought this was going to be a small haul until I went through everything that I had bought! I think collectively shopping is a lot worse than going on on massive shopping spree because it does feel like you buying very much each time unit you get everything home and realise you've basically bought a whole new summer wardrobe plus accessories! Anyway, lets get into what I picked up.

Well, at least it all looks pretty together! I should probably not go shopping in a while though!

Accessorize has an amazing sale on at the moment with up to 50% off a huge range of products, so I definitely recommend checking them out. I picked up these beautiful summery jewellery pieces. I had had my eye one to drop earrings for ages so I was so happy when I found them. I also got these beautiful sterling silver midi rings. I have wanted midi rings for so long but I couldn't find any nice plain silver ones that would go with the elephant ring that I wear on a daily basis, so now I am just in love with these. Think the will look much nicer when I paint my nails though. I also picked up a couple of earring sets and a couple of bracelet sets but I'm not sure if I am going to keep these for myself or save them as presents for friends. Although they are all so pretty I don't know if I will be able to let them go!

Everything in this picture is from Forever 21 which is a store that I love but find it really difficult to get to as I don't have one close by. So when I do get there I get very excited! There is a little bit of a neutral theme going on here but I think both the skirt and the shorts would looks great with anything from a white top to a pattered one.

One of the things that I was desperate to get before I got to Spain in a couple of days was a sunhat. I really like the straw trilby hats and I've seen them everywhere but I've never found one that lived up to the image that I had in my head! I honestly can't believe how lucky I got with this one, it's got a navy band, the two shade is a little different and I think it looks much more expensive than the £10 it actually was. I also picked up a pair of sunglasses as you can never have enough sunglasses and I really love the shape and look of these ones.

Pyjamas seem to always be a constant struggle for me. I never want to spend money on them as no one is really going to see them so I end up wearing gross Pjs that are too small and don't match. These were on sale and I though they would be great for this holiday when people will be seeing me in pyjamas. Also I get really hot at night in the summer no matter how many windows I open and these are a really light cool material.

I was in desperate need to some smarter flats to wear with dresses when heels aren't really appropriate. I love both of these but right now I'm just obsessed with the glitter ones, I honestly can't get over how pretty they are! These were both really reasonably priced and you can find the glitter ones here and the grey ones here.

On my fashion course I was put in a group of three and one of the girls in my group had come all the way from America to do the course. So after I head that we heard that she had never been to Primark that is exactly were we headed during our lunch break and as she said "we took her Primark virginity!" While in Primark I picked up this blue bikini for only £4. I not totally sure about the colour and I don't know if it even fits because I couldn't be bothered to try it on! But I am going on holiday in 3 days and I basically have no nice bikinis that fit me and I did a H&M order a while ago but it still hasn't arrived yet. I also bought this tiny little satchel bag for only £6. I thought it was a total bargain and was really cute and I think it will come in really useful on holiday when you are wondering around but don't want to be carrying a load of stuff.

My new Topshop bikini that I just thing is beautiful. I love the shape of the top and the pretty scalloped detail on the edges. And it's navy, even better!

Love me a bit of star print, so this H&M bikini was right up my street. It also fits me so well and is really flattering.

Yes, another navy bikini! This one is also from H&M and again it just fits me perfectly. I think that for their price H&M do very well on the bikini front.

Hope you enjoyed reading this rather long haul post! Everything that I bought should still be in stores at the moment if it isn't a sale item. But I hope that you are making the most of the sales out there because there really are some great ones! Although I think maybe I need to step away from the shops for a while! Being in Spain and lying on a beach will probably do me a lot of good for that exact reason! Although maybe I'll find some cute stuff in Spain... :P xx
