Everyday Gold

While I am working I am wearing makeup everyday which means I get a lot more time to play around with different looks. I wear the same face, eyebrow products and mascara everyday so when it comes to eye makeup I like to play around a bit. Make sue that all of my different shadows and liners are getting some love!

On Monday I decided to go for a pretty wash of gold all over my lids. The shade is Half Baked from my Naked 2 palette so it is really lovely and pigmented and stayed on at work really well. A lot of my eyeshadows are more of a bronzey shimmer so what I love about this shade is that it is a pure gold, but still not too yellow. 

For this eye look I simply washed this all over my lid and then with a smaller brush brought it down to the lower lash line. Then I used a tiny bit of a light brown shade in the crease just to add some depth and then a tin bit of dark brown eyeliner and lots of my Rimmel mascara. 

So here is the finished look that I wore to work. I'm wearing my Joules harbour top and statement necklace. 

I also have second day curls from my Sunday family barbecue. And I think I actually prefer my hair like this as the waves are even looser. Just wish my hair was like this naturally! 

We are nearly half way through the working week now! And I can't wait until the weekend to see Jack and then I am off to Spain on Monday! Speak soon xx

Subtle Smokey Eyes

I am so sorry for such a lack of posts recently. I can't really remember the last time I went about a week without blogging. Basically my camera lens has had it so right now I can't really take any new photos for my blog which is so annoying as I keep thinking of so many posts that I want to write. And I am in the process of shopping for a new camera lens but they are pretty expensive and it is not something that I want to rush into. 

Anyway, excuses aside I found some photos from a makeup look that I did a while back that I thought I could share with you. 

I would describe this makeup look as being a subtle smkey eye, perfect for a night out but not something really full one. To get this look I used a natural glowy base and kept the rest of my makeup very minimal as I wanted the eyes to be the focal point. 

For the eyeshadow I blended light natural browns into a darker grey shade for a gradient effect. I then used a thin line of black liquid liner on my top lashes for extra definition. And then for a more smokey effect I slightly smudged a black pencil liner on my bottom lashes. To finish off with I used loads of mascara for a really fluttery effect. 

And here is me still learning to use my straigheners to do curls. Although I feel like I have finally mastered loose waves with straighteners. One side is always better than the other though, anyone else have that problem?!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. After stressful coursework deadlines I am finally back home with my family. It's so lovely being back here with my double bed and good food. And the weather is actually really lovely too.

It feels like forever since I have done a makeup post, but honestly it was probably only a couple of weeks ago! This look is all about the eyes using this beautiful shimmery rose gold eyeshadow. It's such a pretty and natural look and perfect to add a little something to everyday makeup. And I'm still a bit obsessed with anything rose gold, so why not go all out and wear it on my eye lids too?!

The eyeshadow that I used for this look is the shade Chopper from the Naked 2 Palette. And I don't know how else to describe it than a really rich, shimmery rose gold. It's so pigmented so I simply blended this all over my lids and then took it along my lower lash line. Then for some extra blending I used a light brown shade in my crease. Although I think you can't really see that as it is all about Chopper!

The rest of my makeup I kept really natural with lots of mascara, dewy skin and MAC Patisserie (obviously!) on my lips. 

Hope you liked this slightly different makeup look. If you are like me and you are always wearing brown eyeshadow then rose gold is a great colour to try something a little different without being too bold. Also I couldn't recommend the Naked 2 Palette more. The shades and quality are incredible and there are so many different colour combinations and looks that you do create. 

Sorry for the less frequent posts. Coursework deadlines and exam season is here and everything goes a bit manic. Still, spending the evening drinking tea and chatting about eyeshadow is a pretty perfect way to take my mind off all that!

Kylie Jenner Inspired Look - Fuller Lips Trick

I have some pictures from a night out probably about a week ago now but I really wanted to share them with you as I really loved my makeup. The look that I was going for was kind of Kylie Jenner inspired although I don't look anything like her. I really wanted to do my own take on the nude eyes, big fluttery lashes and matte nude lips.  

To get my lashes as long and fluttery as possible I used Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I got the free sample with an Elle magazine and I haven't used any other mascara since. I wear this same mascara for everyday but for evenings you can really layer it up to get that false lash effect look and it doesn't go clumpy. 

For my Kylie Jenner inspired lips I first outlined my lips with MaXfactor colour elixir lip liner in 02 Pink Petal. This is a really lovely nude shade and I use this to slightly overdraw my lips and make them appear a bit fuller. I then used my Mac lipstick in Patisserie all over over my lips for my base nude shade. Using the tip of Rimmel lasting finish lipstick by Kate in the shade 08 I created a shadow on my lips. I did this by outlining my lips again especially on the bottom of my bottom lip and then smoothed it all out with my finger so there were no harsh lines. And finally I dabbed a little bit of white eyeshadow onto the centre of my bottom lip to make them appear really plump.

This beautiful black lace skater dress from H&M was such a good buy, I have worn this so many times as you can just throw it on for an effortless dressed up look and there are so many different ways that you can style it. A little black dress is something that every girl should have in their wardrobe!

And now looking at all these pictures makes me wish that I had something to get all dressed up for and spend time doing nice makeup. But I think tonight is just another Netflix evening! xx

A few nights ago I went out with my university friends and I was a little more experimental with my makeup so I really wanted to share it with you. Normally I just to a bit of a smokey eye and a nude lip but this time I wanted to wear one of my boldest lip colours. 

I decided to also add a bit of a shimmery bronze shade to my eyes but not to smoke it out with lots of black to avoid over doing the makeup as really I wanted it to be all about the lips. 

These are nearly all the products that I used on my face that night. While I love wearing my bareMinerals foundation during the day, in the evening I want something with flawless coverage and I always go back to this Bourjois foundation as it is dewy and not cakey. 

For the bronze shimmer on my eyes I used my Maybelline colour tatooo in on and on bronze which is one of my favourites. It's so pretty and long lasting and I think that it looks lovely with the Rimmel lipstick in 128 Starry Eyed. This is a beautiful dark berry plum colour that I get so much wear out of especially during Autumn and Winter. 

Here is the Rimmel lipstick. It actually comes out darker than this is person. More purpley than pink.

Today's Outfit And Makeup - 17/02/2015



Firstly Happy Pancake Day everyone! Its really crêped up quickly this year! Geddit?! 

Anyway, just another quick outfit post today. Something slightly smart and preppy that includes my new Zara trench coat that I am still in love with! 

 


I love the details on this navy top that I got in Paris this summer. The front zip is unusual and flirty and it also has little lace inserts on the sleeves. I felt this look needed a necklace but I kept it simple with this little gold pendent from H&M. 
 


For my makeup I used my MUA natural eyeshadow to do a really subtle navy smokey eye. I used the lighter shade all over my lids and then the dark shade on the outer corners and in my crease. With a fine angled brush I also used the darker shade as an eyeliner to line my top and bottom lashes as it looks a lot softer than a pencil or liquid. I finished the eye look with loads of my new Benefit roller lash mascara. 
 


Underneath my trench coat I paired my top with this old striped cardigan from Dorothy Perkins. It adds an extra bit of warmth as it is still pretty chilly up here and I love the preppy look. 
 

 


Same everyday jewellery and my light denim jeans. 
 


Finally I am totally in love with this lip colour from Sleek called Barely There. It's the perfect pinky coral and it's so pretty and brightening. Really getting me in the mood for Spring.
