My Top Three Trends for S/S18

I am sat here at my desk doing everything and anything apart from revision. I have already been swallowed into a downward YouTube spiral of home tours and wardrobe clear-outs, and gone through every single item in the Zara sale, only to be left disappointed. So I though now was the perfect time to focus on my fairly abandoned blog!

Since I have spent the best part of a fortnight in tracksuit bottoms and no makeup I am in no position to share any of my own styling photos. So I thought I would scroll through another site that is amazing for procrastination, Pinterest, and share some of my style inspiration for 2018.

 

D E N I M

2017 was the year that I finally started venturing away from super skinny jeans. I bought a pair of distressed denim jeans (to my parents disappointment) and I am completely converted. I wear then with trainers or flats during the day, boots in the evening and heels for a night out. This has started an obsession with all things distressed, as you can see below.

S P O T   O N

Polka dots are set to be huge for SS18, particularly in monochrome shades (yay!). I think the key for this trend is delicate polka dots on floaty fabrics for a really feminine feel. This trend looks great with denim and brown leather accessories.

 

S A T I N

I'm not one to experiment too much with colour (as you can probably tell!), but I do love to play around with fabrics and texture. Last year I was all about velvet, but Spring/Summer calls for lighter fabrics...cue satin. The great thing about satin, like velvet, is lower price points are just as good! This trend channels a bit of a nightwear/lingerie style making it feel really sexy.

So those are my three favourite trends for the coming season, and now I am probably going to spend the rest of my evening shopping for them! Would love to know what trends you are really excited for this season!

Marrakech Inspiration

Marrakech Inspiration

I am writing this post while curled up on the sofa watching some rubbish on TV and listening to the rain outside. A million miles away from where I will be tomorrow. I feel like I haven't been on holiday for ages, it has been over a year since I was last in Kephalonia. But I can't wait to get away for a few days with my boyfriend Jack, and explore somewhere that I have always wanted to visit.

I am so excited to finally get to wear some of my Summer clothes and feel the sun on my skin. To wonder the souks of Marrakech and return home with a suitcase of beautiful treasures. To find little cafes with hidden gardens and try the mint tea and fresh orange juice that I have heard so much about.

I'm not sure how much I will be blogging while I am away, however I am almost positive that there will be a lot of pictures going up on Instagram over the week! Hope everyone has the best week and I can't wait to share my travels with you when I return! Speak soon xx

Home For Summer

Home For Summer

My Summer holiday has officially started! My last exam was yesterday morning, not the best exam I've had but it's all over now. I am back home for a few days and then heading back up to Manchester to celebrate the official end of second year with all my friends! And then I am moving out of my university house next weekend. Probably going to get a little emotional, I've had such an amazing year! But for now I am going to focus on looking forward to Summer and making the most of the few weeks that I have.

I am actually going to be starting work in about three weeks at ASOS! So I thought I would make a little bucket list of somethings I would like to do before.

• Marrakech! Eek,I can't wait for this little holiday


• Barbecue


• Shopping for some workwear


• Visit the Summer Exhibition


• Bake something


• See the film Me Before You


• Go to the beach


• Strawberry picking


• Finish my book


• Wonder the streets of Kensington

And finally this Summer I am looking forward to spending more time on my blog. As well as the usually beauty and fashion posts I want to write some more chatty, lifestyle pieces so you can get to know a little more about me and what I am up to this Summer!

So here is to the end of my second year at uni and the start of what feels is going to be an awesome new chapter!

Every now and again I love making these inspiration boards. These are just some images that I found on Pinterest and WeHeartIt of Winter trends and style. Right now I'm all about a more minimal style. Back to basic classic pieces, like white shirts, grey jumpers and beige trench coats. Mixing different textures in a neutral colour palette for a luxurious feel. I'm also really into layering different pieces, especially now it has suddenly got so cold! I love collars with a jumper and turned up cuffs, but nothing is really new there!

Kefalonia Inspiration 2015

Kefalonia Inspiration 2015

Eek! I am so excited to write this post! In two days time I will be going on holiday to Kefalonia with my family! We are staying in a beautiful villa with a swimming pool and amazing views and I honestly can't contain my excitement! 

Yesterday was my last day at work for a while so I have a couple of days to sort everything out and get packing. And while I love going on holiday (most people do!) I am not really a fan of packing. I can't ever travel light and I hate the idea that I won't have all of my stuff with me and if I need something or I forget it then that's just my problem. I love mixing and matching different summery outfits for a holiday but in the end I just want to bring my whole wardrobe. 

So I put together a collage of my favourite summer holiday images from WeHeartIt to get me even more excited for my holiday to Kefalonia and hopefully make packing less of a chore! I am just dreaming of the sun on my skin, my feet in the sand and crystal clear sea. 

I can't wait to share my holiday with you on the blog over the next couple of weeks. I don't think that they will be quite as professional as the ones above but hopefully I can take some beautiful pictures while I am away.

Eek! I am so excited to write this post! In two days time I will be going on holiday to Kefalonia with my family! We are staying in a beautiful villa with a swimming pool and amazing views and I honestly can't contain my excitement!

I am just loving all things pretty and white right now. Simple classic pieces in pretty pastel colours that look elegant and effortless. And I'm also really into slightly bohemian looks, like floaty white lace and delicate layered accessories.

Spencer Hastings Inspired Outfit

Spencer Hastings Inspired Outfit

Recently I have been watching A LOT of Pretty Little Liars. It finally come on Netflix about 2 weeks ago and since then my life hasn't been the same! It's a really great show and if you liked Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, 90210 etc then you should definitely try and watch it. I've just started Season 3 and I'm totally hooked! And while I could talk for hours about my theories and who I think A might be it's the fashion that I really want to talk about. 

Like most of these kind of TV shows the fashion is really on point. Each of the girls have a really individual style that really shows of each of their personalities. And while I love them all for me I find Spencer's style most wearable and easiest to replicate with items I already have in my closet. 

For those of you who haven't seen PLL and don't really know what I am talking about Spencer is the "smart" one in the group. Her style is smart, tailored and very preppy. So I put together my own every day Spencer inspired outfit. Hope you like it. 

A simple ponytail can be made to look a whole lot smarter with a little hair bow. This one is really cute and adds a little pop of colour to a simple outfit. 

I paired this lace collared and cuffed shirt from ASOS with a slouchy 3/4 sleeved cardigan from H&M. Then I kept it simple with some smart dark wash jeans and my new leather boots. 

I am so in love with these boots at the moment. I've wanted a pair of smart brown boots like this for ages so when I saw these in the sale in my local shoe shop I knew I needed them. Being real leather they were still quite an investment but I know I'll get a lot of wear out of them and if I look after them they should last me years. 

I kept my jewellery very understated with my gold watch and simple studs and my makeup very natural as I love how Spencer uses makeup to enhance her natural beauty, not hide it.
