Back To Basics

Back To Basics

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Blogger Summer Outfit ootd White Black Monochrome Simple Classic

I have spent most of today just packing for Kefalonia tomorrow. We are leaving in the early hours of the morning so I need to be completely ready by the time I got to sleep. But I did manage to get out the house today to meet some old school friends that I haven't seen in months. I have known them all since I was 11 years old and they are a group of some of my best friends. The kind of friends that you don't see in almost a year and then you just pick up where you left off and it is like no time has passed at all. Which is great because we are all at different universities, studying different subjects and don't get to see each other too often.

Anyway, we went out for lunch in town, Pizza Express, as it is cheap and quick. We are all students after all! And I thought I would share my outfit with you. It was just a few basic pieces that I threw together and then accessorized a little, but I really loved the way that it looks.

This white top is one of my absolute favourites, and that is saying something as I do have quite a few white tops! But they are just so useful to throw on as they go with any coloured jeans, skirts or shorts and most accessories. To make things even more simple I also wore a pair of black skinny jeans. When in doubt or in a rush monochrome is always a good way to go!

I also threw on a gold watch and necklace, big sunnies and my slip-ons. And then I carried around all my stuff (most of it unnecessary, I should have gone with just my card and phone!) in this pastel satchel handbag. Which if I am honest I totally forgot I had until I found it while packing this morning!

All that I need to do now is decide what I am going to wear on the flight. When it comes to flying (especially when it is like 3am) I am more of a no makeup, comfy clothes kind of girl. All I am really going to do is put my headphones in and fall asleep. So I am off to hunt for my travel pillow and a cosy hoodie! Speak soon xx

Kefalonia Inspiration 2015

Kefalonia Inspiration 2015

Katherine Penney Chic WeHeartIt inspiration summer holiday pictures blue sea sun beautiful Kefalonia
Eek! I am so excited to write this post! In two days time I will be going on holiday to Kefalonia with my family! We are staying in a beautiful villa with a swimming pool and amazing views and I honestly can't contain my excitement!

Yesterday was my last day at work for a while so I have a couple of days to sort everything out and get packing. And while I love going on holiday (most people do!) I am not really a fan of packing. I can't ever travel light and I hate the idea that I won't have all of my stuff with me and if I need something or I forget it then that's just my problem. I love mixing and matching different summery outfits for a holiday but in the end I just want to bring my whole wardrobe.

So I put together a collage of my favourite summer holiday images from WeHeartIt to get me even more excited for my holiday to Kefalonia and hopefully make packing less of a chore! I am just dreaming of the sun on my skin, my feet in the sand and crystal clear sea.

I can't wait to share my holiday with you on the blog over the next couple of weeks. I don't think that they will be quite as professional as the ones above but hopefully I can take some beautiful pictures while I am away.

And if you want to see more beautiful images like these ones then check out my WeHeartIt account here

Have to go and get packing now! Speak soon xx

Accessorize Summer Sale

Accessorize Summer Sale

How could I resist a sale in one of my favourite shops ever?! If you have been reading my blog for a little white then the fact that I love Accessorize will come as no surprise to you. All of my hats, most of my bags and about 90% of all my jewellery are all from the brand. My style is very much classic, simple fashion accessorised with pretty feminine details.

One of the things that I found in the sale was this beautiful khaki hat. I love a good wide brim hat, especially when it starts to get colder to pull together an outfit and smarten up a look. I love this khahi colour for Autumn and actually think that it suits me quite well. This hat would look lovely paired with big woollen jumpers, navy duffel coats or black jackets.

Another item I spotted was this beautiful white bead chain necklace. I am in love with delicate jewellery, which Accessorize does so well and have lots of little gold and silver pendant style necklaces. This one is so simple and understated but looks so pretty with this V shape neckline.

These shoes have to be the best £9 that I have spent in a long time! They are so comfy, the first time I wore them was an 8 hour shift and I had no problems! I think they are so cute and simple so they go with basically everything that I own. If I have an outfit and I don't know what shoes to wear they these are the perfect option as they don't really draw much attention to your feet. I think the slip-on shoe style is so cool and these ones are awesome!

I saw these earrings on the website and thought they were really different and pretty. I love the blue shades and think these would be the perfect way to dress up a really simple white or blue blouse.

The last thing that I got from Accessorize was this little turquoise triangle pendant. I wear a lot of white and I thought that this necklace would be a subtle way to add a little bit of colour for summer to my outfit. It looks so delicate a pretty and reminds me a little of garden bunting!

Katherine Penney Chic Essie Nail Polish Beauty Review Blue Pastel Summer 2015 New Pretty manicure Saltwater happy

Eek! This is the latest edition to my Essie nail polish collection, I am officially obsessed. When I was younger I used to collect things like Me To You bears and Polly Fashion dolls, now it is just Essie nail polish. But the idea of having lots of the same brand thing but in different styles or colour, that I can line up and display beautiful together just makes me happy, and Essie nail polishes are just so beautiful!

Katherine Penney Chic Essie Nail Polish Beauty Review Blue Pastel Summer 2015 New Pretty manicure Saltwater happy

This nail polish is one from Essie's Summer 2015 collection. When I first saw it in Boots the other day while shopping for a present for my friend I knew there was no way I was going home without it! It was actually the only shade from the new collection that I was really drawn to. The shade is called Saltwater Happy which I just think is the cutest name for a nail polish ever!

Katherine Penney Chic Essie Nail Polish Beauty Review Blue Pastel Summer 2015 New Pretty manicure Saltwater happy

As you can see it is a beautiful pastel blue shade but unlike one that I have seen before. I think that it has a slight lavander tint which makes it appear a bluey lilac in some light. It's pastel but not too pale, yet still manages to be subtle at the same time. I am just so in love with this shade and haven't stopped admiring my nails since I first put it on.

I have a few blue shade from Essie now which makes me very happy as I can line them up like this and take lots of WeHeartIt style photos! I have the classic Mint Candy Apple which I think was one of the first Essie nail polishes I ever got. And I still wear this one all the time, especially when Spring arrives and I dig out all my pastel shades. In the middle is the latest edition Saltwater Happy. And on the end is Parka Perfect which is my more Wintery blue shade. This has a grey tint and a light shimmer and is always a lovely alternative to glitter and berry shades at Christmas time.

Decorating With Cacti

Decorating With Cacti

Katherine Penney Chic Bedroom Interior Decor Pretty minimal bohemian white cactus cacti pastel girlie pretty modern

If you read my blog regularly then you will know that about a week ago I went on what I am pretty sure was my first ever trip to IKEA! You would also know that I went a little cactus happy and ended up buying 6 mini cacti in the little white pots. And I have finally found a home for all of them in my bedroom so I wanted to share some photos with you. I absolutely love how they look and I was definitely missing some green in my bedroom.

Katherine Penney Chic Bedroom Interior Decor Pretty minimal bohemian white cactus cacti pastel girlie pretty modern

The first two cacti are placed on my shelves to add a bit of colour. I think that they look so pretty alongside all of the jewellery and the nail polish. And just in case you were wondering or it was bugging you the top cactus is wonky. A lot of the soil was missing from that one so it is a little bit sad at the moment and I have no idea how to fix it!

Katherine Penney Chic Bedroom Interior Decor Pretty minimal bohemian white cactus cacti pastel girlie pretty modern

I used to have all my makeup on this window sill but realised that it probably wasn't a very clever idea to keep it there in the sun. So now I have moved all of my makeup to the shelf above my desk which gave me the perfect space for these three cacti. I love how minimal and chic this looks with all of the white on white.

Katherine Penney Chic Bedroom Interior Decor Pretty minimal bohemian white cactus cacti pastel girlie pretty modern

And finally I saved my favourite cactus (yes, I'm sad!) for right by my bed! I needed some colour here as well and think it helps to tie everything together.

I am really loving minimal and bohemian styles not only for fashion but also for decor. They sound like two completely contracting trends, bohemian style is far from minimal. But I like to keep some aspects minimal, particularly the colour palette of my bedroom very neural with lots of white and then bring a slight bohemian touch to other things, such as subtle intricate prints and different textures. Not sure if that really makes much sense but it does in my head!

Hope everyone had a good Friday! I finally got my first pay cheque from working at Joules today although I have already spent it on something very exciting which I am sure will be featuring on the blog very soon! xx

White and Lacy

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Ootd Summer Topshop White Lace Pretty Frills Cute Girlie Classic

Feels like forever since I have had a full day off work! But I have made the most of it and done some shopping and lots of blogging. This post is just what I have been wearing today. I am very lucky to have such lovely work clothes but it is so nice to be able to wear whatever I want for a day!

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Ootd Summer Topshop White Lace Pretty Frills Cute Girlie Classic

This top was originally from Topshop but my amazing mum found this a few days ago in a Charity shop for £3! She is my idol when it comes to bargain hunting! I used to go Charity shop shopping all the time with friends. There isn't much going on where I live and the town doesn't have much apart from coffee shops and Charity shops. But I haven't been for ages and I really should go again soon. You can find some amazing expensive or designer pieces that have barely been worn for under £5!

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Ootd Summer Topshop White Lace Pretty Frills Cute Girlie Classic

The top is white and lacy, my mum knowns me so well. But it is also slightly cropped which is not usually something that I reach for. However when I tried it on it came just to my jeans which was perfect and there is a lace overlay which covers my stomach and means I can still eat loads for lunch!

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Ootd Summer Topshop White Lace Pretty Frills Cute Girlie Classic

The top also had the most beautiful little ruffle sleeves which is something that I don't already own. It's nice finding a completely new style to wear.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Ootd Summer Topshop White Lace Pretty Frills Cute Girlie Classic

I wore this top with my current favourite Zara dark denim jeans, my Forever 21 sunglasses and my Accessorize delicate gold necklace.

So I hope you liked this outfit post. Feeling very summery right now! And let me know in the comments if you have ever been charity shop shopping and what the best bargain that you ever found was xx
