My Favourite Top

My Favourite Top

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Outfit Evening Smart Zara Favourite Top Fancy Navy Black Prints

Last night I went out to the pub for some drinks to celebrate my friend's birthday. And I drove there! Still can't believe I am old enough to do either of those things! Anyway, like I mentioned in my last post I really wanted to share my outfit with you as I was wearing one of my all time favourite tops.

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Style Outfit Evening Smart Zara Favourite Top Fancy Navy Black Prints

The top is from Zara and I was lucky enough to get it for Christmas last year. It had caught my eye (and my heart!) while I was shopping with friends at university. But sadly it was near the end of term and my student loan wasn't going to stretch quite that far!

I really do love everything about this top. I love the fabric, even though it is 100% polyester the fabric is really thick and weighty so you don't have to worry about being able to see your bra and it just feels better quality that most other polyester tops. I love the unique print as well. It's very different to a lot of the other items in my wardrobe, not pastel or lace or floral. This printed top looks quite edgy and modern and was a step slightly out of my comfort zone when I bought it. But I think it looks beautiful with the contrasting sleeves and back panel. And as this is quite a loose fitting top I like to wear it with some really well-fitting black skinny jeans and my black heeled boots.

For my makeup last night I did quite a subtle black smoky eye and then used loads of mascara. And I kept my lips really natural with my go to MAC Patisserie lipstick.

I'd love to hear what you think of this outfit in the comments below. And happy Good Friday everyone! xx

Christmas Party Outfit - Sequins and Stars

Christmas Party Outfit - Sequins and Stars

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Beauty Outfit Makeup Christmas Party

Last night I had a Christmas party with all the people from my School. It was so lovely to see everyone again and find out what they have been getting up to at work or university. Since coming home from university I haven't really gone out so I wanted to take this opportunity to dress up a little and spend more time on my hair and makeup.

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Beauty Outfit Makeup Christmas Party

This was the outfit that I decided to wear last night, I am absolutely in love with these jeans that I picked up from Primark a couple of years ago. They fit really well and I think that they look a lot more expensive than they really were. I paired them with a white blouse, statement necklace, black heeled boots and my sequin clutch.

Jeans - Primark
White top - French Connection
Necklace - Accessorize
Clutch - Accessorize
Watch - Nixon
Bracelet - Pandora
Nails - Revlon 570 Vixen

For my makeup I wanted to do a little bit of a smokey eye. So I started with a silver in the inner corners then blending to a shimmery grey. I in my crease instead of black I used a navy to pick up the colour from my jeans and clutch. It doesn't look quite as harsh and it is a lot easier to work with. Then I used some black eyeliner on my waterline, a lot of mascara and a glossy natural lip to complete the look.

Can't believe that it is Christmas Eve already!! I'm so excited for Christmas and presents, and yummy food and Christmas films and funny family games. Hope you all have the most amazing Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Lush Bubble Bath

Lush Bubble Bath

Katherine Penney Chic Lush Bubble Bath Evening

I know that a lot of people out there love Lush but I've never really been one of those girls. Occasionally I'll walk into the shop, have a little sniff of some of the products and then leave empty handed. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I find a lot of the smells overpowering and more often than not the shop gives me a bit of a headache after a while.

But having been at university for the last few month one thing that I had found I really missed was a nice long soak in a bath. So when I was in Westfield on Monday I decided to treat myself to a bath bomb to celebrate my first bath for such a long time.

Katherine Penney Chic Lush Bubble Bath Evening

I smelt basically all of the bath bombs that Lush had to offer until they all started to smell the same and I was getting confused! But in the end the one that I chose was a really nice simple one. The smell is relaxing and slightly sweet but not so strong that it is offensive.

And I didn't realise until after I used this (although I probably should have from the name!) that this has little pieces of their butter bar in. So when the bath bomb dissolves you are left with little pieces of the butter bar in the bath that slowly melt into the water leaving a kind of oil in the bath that then makes your skin feel amazing. My skin actually felt and looked amazing after my bath which I really didn't think was going to happen. I thought this was just going to change the colour of my water a little and make my bath smell nice, but it did so much more.

Katherine Penney Chic Lush Bubble Bath Evening

I lit lots of candles and placed them around my bath as this helps me to relax even more. I also had some Taylor playing to sing a long to! Singing in the bath is so much better than singing in the shower as you can't get water in your mouth and the sound is so much better!!

Katherine Penney Chic Lush Bubble Bath Evening

I really loved using this bath bomb and actually wish that I had got a few more! So I would definitely recommend this one if you haven't tried it already. Also I would love to hear in the comments below your favourite Lush products.

Christmas Party Wishlist

Christmas Party Wishlist

Katherine Penney Chic Christmas Party Evening Wishlist

Party season is nearly upon us which means it's time to start thinking about what to wear for all these Christmassy evenings! So above are just a few of my favourite pieces on the highstreet for this party season. It's pretty and pastel with quite a bit of glitter (no surprises there!). So I hope this gives you some inspiration or at least gets you excited about planning some glitzy evening outfits!

Quick Routine For A Dinner Out

Dinner Wearing Revol Colourburst Lacquer Balm in Enticing

On Wednesday I went out for dinner with the girls to celebrate my friends birthday. I'd had got back from my tutorial pretty late and didn't have very long at all to get ready. So I thought I would write a quick post to tell you how I take my look from day to night in a short space of time.

The first think that I did was brush my hair, spray a little bit of dry shampoo for some volume and shove my hair up into a messy ponytail. It looks so chic and effortless and takes less than a minute. The next think I did was redo my concealer, and put on a little bit more mascara to wake my eyes up again. I kept the same outfit that I was wearing during the day but swapped my handbag for a little black clutch and my converse for some heeled black boots. But the main think I wanted to talk about was the lip product that I grabbed to complete my look.

I did a huge Boots haul earlier this week which you will know about if you follow me on instagram where I went a little crazy with the 3 for 2 on all makeup brands. One of the things that I picked up was a Revlon Colourbrust Lacquer Blam in the shade Enticing. I tried these before when they first came out and really loved to nude colour that I got. And when I saw this beautiful christmassy red I couldn't not put it in my basket! I think is a perfect red shade for me but would probably suit most people too. It's supeer moisturising and glossy and has a little bit of a gold shimmer which I think looks gorgeous. And what I was mosst impressed about was the staying power. Even though it's glossy it stains your lips as well. So even after a while when the shine starts to go the colour is still there. I managed to eat dough balls, pizza and choclate cake with it on!

So if you are looking for an inexpensive glossing red lip colour for the coming party season then this is the one that I would really recommend. Or even just something to put on before you head out do dinner when you don't have much time to get ready.

Hope you are all having a lovely day. I am writing this after finally handing in my university coursework. It feels so good to have finally finished it! Fingers crossed this means I will have some more time to dedicated to my blog now. Speak soon :) xx

The Perfect Dress For Christmas/New Year

The Perfect Dress For Christmas/New Year

A-line scoop sleeveless short tulle dress
A-line sweetheart chiffon high low dress
A-line strapless sleeveless beaded silver chiffon long dress
A-live chiffon sweetheart dark navy unique dress
A-line high neck sleeveless tulle sky blue modest dress
A-line sweetheart sleeveless black tulle glitter short dress
A-line bateau sleeveless floor length glitter dress

I know that it probably seems a little bit early for a post like this but in my opinion finding the perfect Christmas, New Years Eve or even Prom dress takes time. My year 13 Prom was in July and I ordered my dress in March!

For most of us there aren't very many times in the year when we can put on an amazing dress and feel like a princess for a night. So when there is an opportunity to get dressed up the hunt for the perfect dress is super exciting. Whether you've got a Prom coming up or this winter you have a Christmas Ball or a New Years Eve party then I wanted to do a little post on a place where you can find the most gorgeous dresses at amazing prices.

When I was looking for my prom dress at the beginning of this year I wanted something really special that no one else would have so I skipped looking on the high street and started looking on the internet instead. The website that I want the tell you about today is Aviva Dress. They provide dresses for brides, bridesmaids and special occasion events for people all over the world. And they ship in 48 hours!

Looking through their website to write this post I was amazed by the huge range of different dresses that they provide. They do long dresses, short dresses, high low dress and every other style you can imagine. I have put most of my favourites in the picture at the top of this post and the names of where you can find them below. But these are just the ones that I love and if your style is different then I am sure that you will still be able to find something that you love on their website. Another thing that is really amazing is that for a lot of the dresses you can chose different colours and for some you can even write your exact measurements so that you know the dress is going to fit perfectly. It's as if they are making the dress just for you!

The evening dresses range from very glitzy "wow" dresses to beautifully simple understated styles so there is something for everyone. And at the moment on all prom dresses there is 70%-80% off which is amazing. You can get a personalised dress that retails at £370 for £70!

I hope that this post inspires you to check out their website to start finding your perfect dress for the upcoming party season. Or even just that the pictures give you some inspiration for what you might want to wear. It gets very addictive just scrolling through all the beautiful designs, trust me! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend, Speak soon xx

Last Nights Party Outfit

Last Nights Party Outfit

Being in my freshers week at university means that over the past few days I have been out a lot. And while quite a few of those times has been in a university t-shirt or a fancy dress costume last night I finally managed to wear something pretty. So I thought I would quickly share this outfit with you and I hope you all like it.

Monochrome is really in at the moment so I kept by colour palette to black and white and then accessorised with some jewellery. I love this outfit as I think it is really simple and classy but also quite clubbing appropriate at the same time. And this was the first time that I have worn a cropped top with a high waisted skirt and I really love how it looks. The skirt I actually bought yesterday (so much for student budgeting!) and I love the subtle textured pattern and it has a lovely gold zip part the way down the back. I am going to be looking for more cropped tops now to pair with this skirt and others that I own. Would love to hear in the comments places where I can get really pretty cropped tops from.

Also if you want to see a picture of me wearing this outfit then check out my Instagram account by the link on this page.

Skirt - H&M
Cropped top - Boohoo

Clutch - Accessorize
Necklace - Accessorize
Watch - Nixon
