Pretty In Paisley

My wardrobe is pretty full and to be perfectly honest I do not need new clothes...ever! But as a fashion student and someone who spends hours reading magazines and scrolling through Pinterest never shopping again isn't really an option! So my new rule is to only buy things that I absolutely love, and that bring my joy (within reason of course). So I wanted to share the latest edition to my wardrobe that I am totally obsessed with. So much so that it only arrived today I have already taken a load of photos to upload to Instagram and write a blogpost!

This dress is just everything. It's feminine and beautifully intricate but it's so unique and different to anything I have seen before. The colours are stunning, and that's saying something as I am not usually one to wear much colour. And it totally nails the oriental and brocade trend with the paisley print and mandarin style collar.

I love the fit and the shape and I can't wait to style this with little flat sandals and a cross body bag for daytime, and some strappy heels for the evening.

The dress is from a brand called Comino Couture which I recently found on ASOS. They sell some really beautiful occasion dresses, I'm also in love with the halter neck navy style.

The great thing about ASOS is finding unique little brands that you wouldn't have come across otherwise. I now have a list of brands that I love from ASOS which I check after having a look at New In! I think I might do a post on how I shop and navigate the ASOS website soon too. But for now I'm just going to be staring at my beautiful new dress!

Happy Sunday, and speak soon xx

New 90's Inspiration

New 90's Inspiration

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Pinterest Inspo 90's Fashion Trend Style
The 90's trend is absolutely huge right now. It was all over the catwalks, Vogue did a whole 90's edit and now we are already seeing it on the high street.

But if you are like me and aren't quite up to embracing the head-to-toe 90's grunge look but still want to try this trend there are some subtler ways to do so. And with lots of pieces that you probably already own!

So I've put together a collection of images that I think bring a modern and fresh look to the 90's style.

Distressed denim jeans are really 90's and look great with a plaid shirt or a more feminine cami, Calvin Klein is back in a huge way, and the cotton sports bra set is so comfy and perfect for layering. I also want to wear double denim again this season as I think it is such a cool, effortless look. Leather jackets are a great nod to the 90's grunge trend and probably something that you already have in your cupboard. Especially to toughen up a slip dress or lace top.

I can't wait to start recreating some of these new 90's looks for Spring. So let me know in the comments below what your favourite part of the 90's trend is.

Minimal Monochrome

Minimal Monochrome

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

How is it already February? It feels like 2016 has only just started!

Just a little outfit post today. I am still loving a really minimal style, lots of basic pieces and monochromatic colours.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

Here I am just wearing some black jeans from Zara and my favourite grey jumper from H&M. I wear this jumper all the time, on it's own and layers. It is slouchy but still so flattering, especially with the sleeves rolled up. However it is starting to get really quite bobbly now which is so sad. Does anyone have any good recommendations of where to get some nice basic jumpers. I'm actually thinking of investing in a cashmere piece that will last longer even if I wear it all the time.

I'm also wearing my new white vest top from Mango which I bought to wear over my Calvin Klein sports bra. It's really lovely and I think the scoop hem looks great with this outfit.

This isn't a really great picture but I am also wearing my pearl necklace that I got for Christmas from my mum. It is so beautiful and delicate and I think it looks really lovely with the crew neckline of this jumper.

I finished the looks of with my Zara trench coat and my new Olivia Palermo for Ciaté London lipstick in the shade Praline. It's my perfect nude and I have been wearing it pretty much everyday since I bought it. To have a read of my

Katherine Penney Chic Fashion Blogger Style Outfit Pastel Neutrals Pretty Winter Scarf Blur

I need to apologise for the lack of posts this last week. It has been pretty busy with university and everything, but I handed my coursework in yesterday and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Plus I am looking forward to getting back into posting again.

So I thought that I would share with you the outfit that I wore yesterday (today has been more of a lounge pants and messy bun kind of day!).

My mum and I share a huge scarf collection. And when I say huge we are talking roughly 70+! She has always loved scarves as an accessory or a way to add colour or pattern to an outfit and I have just picked up that part of her style.

I only brought a few of my favourite scarves up with me to uni but the other day I was getting dressed and remembered that we had this scar and asked her to send it up to me. We got this one last year at the Christmas markets in London, after falling in love with the unique water marked print. I just love the colours in this and it looks perfect with navy or grey.

I wore the scarf with my favourite grey jumper from H&M, a silver heart necklace, my pearl earrings and a little bracelet. I kept everything pretty simple and elegant so that the scarf would be the focus of the look.

I also wore some black jeans from Zara, to balance out all the neutrals! And my rose gold watch as I don't really see the harm in mixing gold and silver jewellery. Rules are made to be broken!

One of my favourite nail polishes at the moment is this rose gold shade from ORLY. Thought that this would look perfect with the outfit. And I actually did a full review of this which you can have a read of here

Hope you are all well and liked this outfit post. I am sure scarves are going to become even more of a staple for me as the weather is now so cold. Although all the Christmas lights are up and everything looks so pretty so I can sort of deal with the chill! Speak soon xx

Neutrals

Neutrals

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Winter Neutrals Trench Coat Scarf White Pastel Pretty

This outfit is basically my style in one look. Simple classic pieces in neutral tones. The weather is getting so much colder and the evenings are getting darker sooner but I still love wearing these lighter shades.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Winter Neutrals Trench Coat Scarf White Pastel Pretty

This coat is still my favourite. I love the classic trench coat style and how it smartens up an outfit. Zara always does really beautiful coats.

The top that I am wearing is a really beautiful white 3/4 sleeved top from Joules. It is quite a summery piece but layered under more wintery piece like in this outfit it adds a nice texture and still works really well. I'm also wearing my H&M grey wool scarf which I am still obsessing over. It is just the warmest cosiest thing and I feel like I am wearing a huge blanket!

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Winter Neutrals Trench Coat Scarf White Pastel Pretty

For this simple classic look I kept my makeup nice and natural. A subtle brown smokey eye with a little bit of liquid liner and a natural pinky lip colour. The lip colour that I am wearing is one of the Rimmel London Kate Moss ones that also feature in my most recent favourites.

I am writing this post while sitting in Nero with a white chocolate mocha (my favourite) and a warm muffin. Very blogger style! I even took a picture of the whole set up! It is so lovely and making me think that I should do this more often, but I'm not sure my purse will stretch that far. Although while we don't have wifi it is a nice little treat after a long day! And the perfect way to start the weekend xx

Leopard Lovin'

Leopard Lovin'

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

I have been seeing these slip-on style shoes everywhere and I have wanted a pair for a while. They just look casual, comfy and a cute nod to the sports luxe trend. Also I've seen then styled in so many different ways, with all types and colours of jeans and little summer dresses and skirts. These are so many different styles, colours and prints out there but after seeing several different outfits on Tuula Vintage I knew I really wanted some leopard print ones.

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

I knew I really wanted I lighter shade pair and preferably in the pony skin texture as I think it makes them look a lot more expensive. So after hours (yes hours!) of searching I finally found this pair from Warehouse. They were exactly what I had been looking for and weren't a totally crazy price, especially with my student discount!

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

They are a bit like marmite though! My mum and I love them, my brother and my boyriend hate them! Maybe they are just one of those trends that guys don't get? Either way, I think they are so cool. As someone who doesn't wear much colour or anything too out there this was a pretty bold purchase for me. But I can't wait to style them with different outfits and create different looks. And I think paired with something simple they will finish an outfit off perfectly and add a little pop of print.

So sorry if you are reading this and all you can think is "Ew, ew ew!" But if any of you do love them as much as I do then you can get hold of them here. Let me know what you think of them in the comments below! xx
