Longchamp Handbag

So here it is! The little purchase that I told you about in yesterday post. A Longchamp handbag! I have wanted the classic Longchamp bag for years. It is just a beautiful timeless piece that can go with so many different outfits and is large enough for everyday.

I spent Friday in London wondering around Borough Market and Covent Garden with my boyfriend and our friend but after they both had to leave for work in the afternoon I was left on my own to wonder around the shops on Oxford Street. Very dangerous!

And as you can probably imagine I found myself in the huge Longchamp store on Regents Street staring up at the wall of all the different colours and all the different sizes of Le Pliage handbags. It took about a minute standing in front of the mirror with this handbag to know that I wasn't going to be leaving without it. However it took approximately 15 minutes, still standing in front of the mirror with the bag to weight up the pros and cons and mentally justify the purchase! In the end the beauty, quality and the feeling that the handbag gave me that just made me want to squeak with joy overruled the price, and I walked about the store with a beautiful new bag.

The colour that I chose is the shade "Gunmetal" which is this beautiful dark grey shade. I knew that I wanted a neutral colour bag that I could wear with everything and I was much more drawn to the darker colours, especially now we are going to be heading into Autumn and Winter. I love the navy colour but most people have that one and I also thought that I wear navy jeans most of the time and I didn't want to overload on the navy! I also really like the black but I don't really wear a lot of black. So this dark grey is just prefect for me and I think it is just gorgeous!

Buying this bag has really made me realise how a more luxury handbag can make you whole outfit look so much more expensive. Here I am wearing a white shirt from eBay that cost less than £10! But paired with well fitting jeans and my new Longchamp bag (and probably my gold watch) the shirt suddenly looks so much smarter.

I still can't believe that I have a Longchamp bag that I have wanted for so long! I want to really look after it but at the same time I don't want it to be a fancy bag that I am too scared to ruin so I never use it. I am going to use this all the time, most days and I know that it might get a little scuffed at some point, but that will just show how well loved it is!

If I Was A Rich Girl...

If I Was A Rich Girl...

This week for my Fashion Marketing course I had a really amazing lecture by Victoria from inthefrow! She was talking about taking inspiration from designers and it really inspired me to go home and look at all the beautiful designer clothing that is out at the moment. I love reading Vogue and scrolling through the designer websites looking at what they have in and then trying to recreate my own version of the look with high street pieces.

So I made two different boards filled with designer pieces which were all found on net-a-porter. One is the more classic and cult designer pieces inspiring that timeless style which I love and the other is more adventurous and unique encouraging me to take more risks in fashion. I know I will probably never be able to afford any of these but I think it is lovely to look and take inspiration from designers. A lot of the time high street brands are taking looks and creating there own versions of designer pieces for a fraction of the price. So when I go shopping I like to shop for items that are designer inspired and look more expensive than they really are.

These two boards are just my personal inspiration but I would really encourage you to make your own. It's great fun and then you can start searching for high street versions of the items that you love.

Classic Style inspiration

  • Michael Kors Sutton large textured-leather tote bag in dark dune
  • Burberry London mid-length trench coat
  • Tory Burch Renny guipure Lace dress
  • Stella McCartney satin-trimmed wool-twill blazer
  • YSL wool striped top
  • Gucci horsebit-embellished leather boots
  • Valentino pussy bow blouse
  • TIBI worth embroidered cloque peplum top
  • Shinola Runwell rose gold plated and leather watch

Unique style inspiration

  • Collette Dinnigan cotton-lace mini dress
  • SEA embroidered lace mini skirt
  • Oscar De La Renta Embellished Silk Jacket
  • Stella McCartney tie dye-effect jacquard mini skirt
  • Charlotte Oympia what a peach suede clutch
  • Miu Miu embellished collar crepe top
  • Diane Von Furstenburg leather and leopard-print calf hair gloves
  • Karl Donoghue shealing gilet
