Pretty Rocks

Darbyshire Rocks

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Life White Rock England Peak District Love Fall Autumn

Please excuse the pun, I really couldn't help it!

A couple of weeks ago I went to Darbyshire for a couple of days to see my family who were staying there for half term. I miss my family so much when I am at university so it was so lovely to go and see them just for a little bit.

Darbshire is a beautiful place in the Peak District where I now have so many lovely memories. We did a lot of walking, even in the rain. We went out for lunch, wondered around the little town of Buxton (yes, where the water is from - took me a while!) and found some cute shops. One of my favourite things that we did was go into some caves where they have these beautiful blue and yellow rocks. The ones I have here aren't them, but they had a little gift shop and I thought that these were really pretty!

My brother and I spent ages looking in the gift shop at all the beautiful rocks. It was like we were kids again, when the gift shop is always the best part of an outing or school trip. In the end I think that my dad just felt sorry for us (or more likely embarrassed by us!) so he gave us each £5 to by some rocks and get out of there. In the end his plan backfired as we took even longer decided what to spend our money on. You really wouldn't believe I am going to be 20 next year!
Anyway, I chose these two in the end. I love the blue shades of them both and thought they would look so pretty in my bedroom and in the backdrop of photos.

Just a little collection of some of the pictures that I took while I was there. Autumn was in full swing and looking back through I my photos I was obviously very excited by all the pretty coloured leaves! There is also a photos of the beautiful gift shop that I found. It was white, cute and perfect, totally up my street. In the end I didn't by anything by I am pretty sure my mum snuck back there to get some presents for my sister and I for Christmas. She's not very subtle with things like that!

I need to apologise for the lack of posts this last week. It has been pretty busy with university and everything, but I handed my coursework in yesterday and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Plus I am looking forward to getting back into posting again.

So I thought that I would share with you the outfit that I wore yesterday (today has been more of a lounge pants and messy bun kind of day!).

My mum and I share a huge scarf collection. And when I say huge we are talking roughly 70+! She has always loved scarves as an accessory or a way to add colour or pattern to an outfit and I have just picked up that part of her style.

I only brought a few of my favourite scarves up with me to uni but the other day I was getting dressed and remembered that we had this scar and asked her to send it up to me. We got this one last year at the Christmas markets in London, after falling in love with the unique water marked print. I just love the colours in this and it looks perfect with navy or grey.

I wore the scarf with my favourite grey jumper from H&M, a silver heart necklace, my pearl earrings and a little bracelet. I kept everything pretty simple and elegant so that the scarf would be the focus of the look.

I also wore some black jeans from Zara, to balance out all the neutrals! And my rose gold watch as I don't really see the harm in mixing gold and silver jewellery. Rules are made to be broken!

One of my favourite nail polishes at the moment is this rose gold shade from ORLY. Thought that this would look perfect with the outfit. And I actually did a full review of this which you can have a read of here

Hope you are all well and liked this outfit post. I am sure scarves are going to become even more of a staple for me as the weather is now so cold. Although all the Christmas lights are up and everything looks so pretty so I can sort of deal with the chill! Speak soon xx

Winter Fashion Inspiration

Winter Fashion Inspiration

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Inspiration Board Winter Trends Pastel

Every now and again I love making these inspiration boards. These are just some images that I found on Pinterest and WeHeartIt of Winter trends and style. Right now I'm all about a more minimal style. Back to basic classic pieces, like white shirts, grey jumpers and beige trench coats. Mixing different textures in a neutral colour palette for a luxurious feel. I'm also really into layering different pieces, especially now it has suddenly got so cold! I love collars with a jumper and turned up cuffs, but nothing is really new there!

You can check out my Pinterest here and my WeHeartIt here.

Hope you like this little inspiration board. What styles are you loving at the moment? xx

Soap and Glory Brow Archery

Soap and Glory Brow Archery

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Beauty Makeup Brows Brow Archery Soap and Glory Review Pretty Pastel

I don't even know how long I have been wanting to try this product for! There was so much hype around it and so many raving reviews but for some reason I never got around to giving it a go myself.

However recently I found I had quite a few points on my Boots card (it really doesn't take that long!) and this is what I chose.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Beauty Makeup Brows Brow Archery Soap and Glory Review Pretty Pastel

The Brow Archery is designed with two different ends to fill in and shape your brows. The end that you should use first is the pen end (more like a felt pen to me) which is to fill in and shade your brows. I like to use this to fill in any gaps or sparser areas in my brows. However I have pretty dark eyebrows and even though I went for a brown shade it takes a while for this to show up. I'm a little worried that some time soon this end is going to dry out or run out.

The other end of the Brow Archery is the crayon end which is similar to lots of other brow products out right now. The shade of this is perfect for my eyebrows as it is quite cool toned. I also love the texture of this as it is slightly waxy and applies really nicely, it doesn't drag on the skin like other brow products I have tried before. This is amazing for getting that perfect brow shape really quickly.

I have medium brown hair and slightly darker eyebrows so the shade that I went for was Brownie Points. I think this is a really great colour for me as it doesn't have any orangey undertones to make my brows look reddish. Soap and Glory also do a blonde shade that is meant to be very good and then an even darker shade.

Since I bought this I haven't reached for anything else to do my brows with. In fact, I was so confident with it that I threw out my old brow kit which was all grubby and had started to fall apart.

So if you haven't yet tried the Brow Archery then I would really recommend it. I don't think my brows have ever looked so good. I might even stretch as far as saying that with this and a bit of time I can get my brows "on fleek"!
