Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

It's finally Halloween and I am super excited! Tonight I am going out with some of my friends from my house to an event at the Student Union. It's carnival themed which should be really cool. I am going to dress up as one of those creepy Mexican dolls from Dia de los muerte. So hopefully the face paint will look okay. I will try and take some pictures for you all if I can.

I thought that I would share with you some of my Halloween essentials. Firstly these super cute cat shoes! I always bring these out around this time of year. They remind me of the beautiful Charlotte Olympia ones. Another essential is my L'Oreal Elnett hairspray, the gold one. I have used this for year and I never reach for any other hairspray. I use this not only to keep my hair in place (might be doing a bit of back combing tonight!) but also once I ave finished my makeup I spray a bit of this to help everything last even longer. Like a makeup spray.

Something else that I always bring out this time of year is my Essie nail polish in the Shade Belugaria. It's a black nail polish with really big bit of black glitter in so when on the nails it gives a really textures effect. Very Halloween!

For me, dark lips on Halloween are a must! Although this time of year even during the day I love a bit of a berry lip shade. My favourite dark lip colour is Rimmel lasting finish lipstick in Starry Eyed. This is a gorgeous dark purply berry shade that lasts on the lips for ages. The other lip colour for this time of year is a black. Much bold, but it can still look amazing. The one I have here is just a cheap one but it is very black and goes almost matte which helps it to last. Another look that you can go for is a combination of the two colours in an ombre look. I did this last year for Halloween and it looked really effective. You can check out the pictures that I took here

So I hope that whatever you are doing tonight you have a lovely Halloween! Next we have Bonfire Night and then Christmas!! I can't even contain my excitement, I love this time of year! xx

Halloween Weekend

Halloween Weekend

This weekend after my reading week my boyfriend Jack came to stay with me. He came over early on Friday morning and we spent the day wondering around Manchester and having lunch in a little cafe that did amazing milkshakes. In the evening we got all dressed up for Halloween of course!

I'm not too sure what I dressed up as exactly but I wanted to do something that I could have fun with gothic looking makeup. I bought this mask of Ebay for £2 and I think that it is beautiful. And then the only other thing that I had to buy for this look was some black lipstick and long fake eyelashes. The dress that I am wearing is just a black lace skater dress from H&M and on my nails I am wearing Essie's Belugaria which has an incredible glittery texture.

For my makeup I did my usual foundation and skin routine. Then I did a really smokey eye by blending black eyeshadow into my outer corners, crease and along my lower lash line. For my lips I really wanted to try out this gradient look that I had seen before and I think it turned out really well. I used my Rimmel lipstick in 128 starry-eyed all over my lips, then used a black eye-liner pencil to outline my lips and the black lipstick to blend the two together.

This was such a simple cheap look and I had so much fun creating it!

Me with my beautiful boyfriend!

On Saturday night Jack and I and a couple of my friends all had ticked to Vevo Halloween concert in Manchester with the theme of zombies vs survivors. On Saturday afternoon Jack and I fell asleep and woke up aft 4pm still needed to have dinner and get all of our costume ready before we left for the concert which was about 45 minutes away! We ran into town and thank god for Pizza Express as we managed to order and eat in about 30 minutes! We then had half an hour to do our zombie makeup, rip up our clothes and cover ourselves in blood! And considering the time pressure I think we did pretty well.

For this look I did my usual skin routine again without bronzer or blusher. But I then used a reddish blusher around my eyes to make them look tired and a grey eyeshadow to create dark circles and dull skin. Plus the fake blood dripping from my forehead and my eye!

The Vevo concert was really cool and so many people had dressed up and looked so scary. There was one woman wearing a creepy pig mask and I think it was one of the scariest things I have ever seen in my life! What was really sad was that Sam Smith was ill for the concert so wasn't able to make it. I was so upset as he was the main reason we had all bought the tickets. But Rixton and Ella Eyre were still amazing and I've found loads of knew songs of theirs that I want to download!

Hope you all had a lovely Halloween. Let me know in the comments what you dressed up as :) xx
