Sweet Snaps

Sweet Snaps

   thumb_IMG_2421_1024

So on the last day of February I though I would take you though a few of my favourite food and drink discoveries this month!

My latest obsession (yes, it has got to that!) is making caramel iced coffees. I have a Nutribullet, which don't get me wrong, I do use for smoothies and healthy drinks. But they are also great for slightly less healthy drinks! I treated myself to the Starbucks caramel syrup this month too! So all I do is add some cold black coffee, milk, ice cream and some caramel syrup and a bit of ice, blend it all together and you are good to go. And so much cheaper than a real Starbucks!

This month I went to visit my bestfriend in Leeds and we went to an amazing dessert place just around the corner from her house. I honestly think this is one of the best crepes I have ever had. It was a Nutella crepe with banana, crumbled cookie, chocolate sauce, cream and kinder bueno ice cream. I also think this place might be a chain so defo one to check out!

thumb_IMG_2418_1024

I spotted this on offer in Tesco and couldn't resist! creme eggs are my favourite Easter treat and this creme egg ice cream is so good! Perfect for chilling in bed with Netflix!

thumb_IMG_2360_1024

And finally my favourite new hot drink. I'm a huge green tea drinker but I also love vanilla lattes so this combination of the two is perfect. It's very sweet but also filled with antioxidants and tastes amazing. I found this in a cafe in Durham when I was visiting for the weekend so I hope it catches on and other places start selling this too.

Grey Scale

Grey Scale

thumb_IMG_2250_1024

I think if I could only wear one colour for the rest of my life it would have to be grey. And then you could have a really light grey that was almost white and a dark charcoal grey that was almost black. And with monochrome I am pretty much sorted!

Anyway, just a little outfit post wearing one of my favourite colours. I think grey is such a versatile colour that suits pretty much every skintone.

thumb_IMG_2394_1024

Here I am wearing my grey breton stripe top from Joules. I've been wearing this loads recently as it is a great layering piece in the colder weather. This grey cardigan from Primark was such a bargain at about £8 and another perfect pieces for layering. It has 3/4 sleeves and a slightly longer length which I find really flattering. And I love how you can see the stripe top sleeves underneath.

thumb_IMG_2395_1024

To complete this look and arm myself against the also grey weather I am wearing my grey bobble hat. I think this style looks so cute but is also really practical and great for hiding a bad hair day!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Mine actually got off to a bit of a rubbish start. My phone was in the back pocket of my jeans and I went to go to the toilet...You can probably guess what happened next but lets just say my poor phone is no longer! The good news is it has reminded me why I pay for insurance every month! Hopefully it will be sorted soon but for now I am ashamed to say that it has been a day and I am already struggling being phoneless!

Zara Perfumes

Zara Perfumes

thumb_IMG_2371_1024

I finally got around to purchasing some Zara perfumes after so many of my friends went on about how good they were. I'm a huge fan of Zara anyway, I love there clothes, their accessories and their homewear, but for some reason I had never tried their perfumes.

thumb_IMG_2373_1024

After spraying and sniffing scents to the point that I could hardly smell anything at all I came away with these two. Although there are so many that I now want! I chose a light floral scent and a more musky scent.

I actually think floral Bouquet is my favourite at the moment. It's very sweet and floral but light and feminine and I think this will be perfect for Spring and Summer.

thumb_IMG_2372_1024

So if you haven't yet tried any Zara perfumes I would definitely recommend them, especially for how reasonably priced they are. And I love these beautiful minimal style bottles, that look perfect in my room.

Treating Myself

Treating Myself

Katherine Penney Chic Shopping VS PINK Haul Bra Treat Pretty Lace

As some of you may know I am a Campus Representative for Victoria's Secret PINK at my university. It's such an amazing experience and I have had so much fun holding student events and promoting a brand that I love.

At the end of last term I was given a gift card with some money on that I could spend it VS or VS PINK as a thank you for my work that term. Over the Christmas holidays I went shopping with my sister and bought some things with the card. So if you want to see what else I got you can head over to this post here

But I made sure that I save a bit of money to treat myself to something I have always wanted, a Victoria's Secret bra. They are girlie, and beautiful and sexy and way out of my price range! But with my gift card it didn't really feel like I was spending money (why is that?!) so I treated myself.

Katherine Penney Chic Shopping VS PINK Haul Bra Treat Pretty Lace

As soon as I walked into the store I spotted this bra and immediately fell in love. I knew I wanted to spend my money on something special, not just a white bra. But something more pretty than bright and neon. I think the black and white floral lace is so sophisticated and I love that the bra comes lower down as well.

The bra itself it the comfiest one that I own too. Now I really see what all the hype was about! I wanted to save this more for special occasions but it's so difficult not to wear this everyday. Especially now it has made me realise that my other bras don't fit me properly at all! The straps are really soft and slightly wider than I am used to which makes this so comfy.

In case anyone is wondering I didn't buy any matching pants. My gift card wouldn't stretch that far and I actually wasn't too keen on the ones that went with these. But I think with any pretty black underwear this will look great.

I did think about whether I wanted to post a picture of my underwear on my blog. But underwear is something that we all need and shop for so why not?! Especially as this one makes such a pretty picture!

New 90's Inspiration

New 90's Inspiration

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Pinterest Inspo 90's Fashion Trend Style
The 90's trend is absolutely huge right now. It was all over the catwalks, Vogue did a whole 90's edit and now we are already seeing it on the high street.

But if you are like me and aren't quite up to embracing the head-to-toe 90's grunge look but still want to try this trend there are some subtler ways to do so. And with lots of pieces that you probably already own!

So I've put together a collection of images that I think bring a modern and fresh look to the 90's style.

Distressed denim jeans are really 90's and look great with a plaid shirt or a more feminine cami, Calvin Klein is back in a huge way, and the cotton sports bra set is so comfy and perfect for layering. I also want to wear double denim again this season as I think it is such a cool, effortless look. Leather jackets are a great nod to the 90's grunge trend and probably something that you already have in your cupboard. Especially to toughen up a slip dress or lace top.

I can't wait to start recreating some of these new 90's looks for Spring. So let me know in the comments below what your favourite part of the 90's trend is.

January Favourites

January Favourites

thumb_IMG_2255_1024

The fact that my monthly favourites appear to have a slight colour scheme makes me very happy! So the first month of 2016 is over and I have a few new favourites as well as some old loves to share with you.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

In December is was all about the gold eyeshadow and red lips, so this month I have really been enjoying something a bit more natural. These pinky, rose gold shades as so pretty and are getting me in the mood for some pretty Valentines Day makeup! Also the dark purple shade looks great as a smokey eyeliner along the top lash line to really make brown eye pop.

Sanctuary Spa Velvety Hand Cream

Just like lip balms I have so many different hand creams in different bags and all over my bedroom. However this one is by far my favourite. I find that a lot of hand creams just make my hands feel greasy and then dry again an hour later. This one smells lovely and is really so moisturising. Probably going to have to repurchase this when it runs out, which doesn't happen very often.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer

I'm never really loyal to a concealer as I still don't think I have found the perfect one. However of all the ones I have tried I think this is my favourite. It's my perfect shade right now and feels so light on my skin. The only think is I wish it was a little bit thicker for a little more coverage. Back to uni and the bags under my eyes are already so bad...

bareMinerals Powder Foundation

I think a mix of alcohol and lots of chocolate made my skin very unhappy this Christmas. So I wore more foundation to cover it all up and then it got worse so the cycle continued. After my exams in January I went home and was makeup free for almost a week. My skin cleared up a lot and now I have been really enjoying wearing something a lot lighter. I stopped wearing this a few months ago as the shade I had was way too dark once I lost my Summer tan. However this new pot is the perfect colour and feels just like skin.

Essie Urban Jungle

This was one of the Essie nail polishes that I got in my stocking for Christmas. It's such a lovely of white shade that looks so pretty with every outfit. And of course, Essie just do the best nail polish formula.

Maybelline Cream Blush - Shade 02

I bought this a while back and loved it so I don't really know why I stopped using it. But recently I have really got back into using this to achieve a lovely healthy glow. It's such a pretty shade that will be perfect for Spring.

Olivia Palermo for Ciaté London Lipstick - Praline

I only acutally got this right at the end of January but I had to include it as I have worn it pretty much everyday since. It is such a beautiful natural shade and has a really velvety texture.

Hope everyone had a lovely start to 2016! And with Pancake Day next week and then Valentines Day after that there is so much to look forward to! Speak soon xx

Minimal Monochrome

Minimal Monochrome

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

How is it already February? It feels like 2016 has only just started!

Just a little outfit post today. I am still loving a really minimal style, lots of basic pieces and monochromatic colours.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

Here I am just wearing some black jeans from Zara and my favourite grey jumper from H&M. I wear this jumper all the time, on it's own and layers. It is slouchy but still so flattering, especially with the sleeves rolled up. However it is starting to get really quite bobbly now which is so sad. Does anyone have any good recommendations of where to get some nice basic jumpers. I'm actually thinking of investing in a cashmere piece that will last longer even if I wear it all the time.

I'm also wearing my new white vest top from Mango which I bought to wear over my Calvin Klein sports bra. It's really lovely and I think the scoop hem looks great with this outfit.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

This isn't a really great picture but I am also wearing my pearl necklace that I got for Christmas from my mum. It is so beautiful and delicate and I think it looks really lovely with the crew neckline of this jumper.

Katherine Penney Chic Blogger Fashion Style Outfit Clothes Minimal Classic Monochrome

I finished the looks of with my Zara trench coat and my new Olivia Palermo for Ciaté London lipstick in the shade Praline. It's my perfect nude and I have been wearing it pretty much everyday since I bought it. To have a read of my
