Navy Haul

Navy Haul

thumb_IMG_2181_1024

Earlier this week, when I was back at home I had such a lovely day out with my mum. We did some shopping and had a lovely healthy lunch out at Bills. I picked up a few pieces, under a strict colour scheme apparently so I though I would share them with you.

thumb_IMG_2184_1024

The first place I went was Topshop, of course! It wasn't the biggest Topshop but they still had plenty of things to try on. I was actually looking for a pair of jeans after an unfortunate rip in my favourite pair of Zara jeans. And please don't ask where!

The pair that I ended up getting were the Topshop Joni jeans. They are high waisted which I have never got before (I know!) and in a lovely dark denim. They are very skinny, but that is how I like my jeans, but still allow a lot of movement as they are so stretchy. I am looking forward to wearing these with some pretty cropped tops without having to show much of my stomach!

thumb_IMG_4596_1024

Then in Topshop I also got this beautiful chambray shirt. I do not need another shirt at all. But I made the mistake of trying this one on and falling in love with it. The fit and the fabric are just lovely and I think this will be a really versatile piece on it's own or for layering.

thumb_IMG_2185_1024

We also had a quick look in Jack Wills before we headed home. I had been told by so many people that Jack Wills were having a really amazing sale but I never actually got around to having a look. I wish I had a bit earlier really, but I have probably saved myself a lot of money!

thumb_IMG_2188_1024
I did pick up this stunning top that was about £60 down to £19! Once again it is navy and has beautiful lace detailing. It's a slightly cropped peplum top and I love that it has the cami build in underneath.

Links to everything I bought:

thumb_IMG_2186_1024

The peplum detailing in just beautiful, and even thrown on with a pair of jeans (like my new high waisted ones) this looks really but together.

It is great to be back in Manchester now that everyone else has finished their exams. Tonight we are all getting dressed up and going out for cocktails in Spinningfields. I'm going to wear my new Mango lace dress. No prizes for guessing the colour! And I'm just painting my nails in a new polish I got for Christmas, Essie Take it Outside. It's a beautiful grey/beige that I might try and take some photos and do a quick post on tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to dressing up and having a very classy evening. But right now I am in my PINK hoodie and we are going to order loads of pizza for dinner! It's all about balance.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

Burt's Bees

Burt's Bees

thumb_IMG_4360_1024

I'm not sure before this set I had ever tried anything from Burt's Bees, which is crazy as I am a beauty lover and they are a pretty big brand.

One thing that I had heard was that Burt's Bees do some pretty amazing lip balms. And even though I have a whole draw of about fifteen lip balms in my room, another five in the bottom of my handbag and one in the pocket of nearly every coat that I own, a girl can never have to many lip balms! Especially in Winter!

thumb_IMG_4381_1024

This cute little set came with three different lip balms and a hand cream. The lip balm in the tin is probably my least favourite as it is lemon flavoured which isn't something that I would usually go for. The two lip balms in the stick form are really lovely though. My favourite is the original as it smells lovely and refreshing and when I apply it my lips feel all tingly. It sounds strange and I don't actually think it is doing any plumping like some other lip products. But it leaves my lips feeling so refreshed and moisturised for hours. It's also a great one for under lipsticks as it is not glossy or sticky. The red one doesn't actually have that much colour, but also smells really good.

The hand cream smells lemony but in a nicer refreshing way to the lip balm. It is light but thick and absorbs really quickly so one that I have been throwing in my handbag for on the go. I just hate the feeling of dry hands so a get though hand creams so quickly!

So far I am pretty impressed by Burt's Bees in term of their moisturising qualities. I do love fruity scents but I definietly thing there are some much nicer ones than lemon! I would really like to try some of their lip glosses that I have seen. In my mind they are going to be more of a lip balm lip gloss hybrid so I won't be left with sticky lips that my hair gets stuck to! Has anyone tried them and would you recommend? Let me know in the comments below.

Sister Sister

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. It has been so good to back home with my family just relaxing and eating a lot of food!

This afternoon my sister and I did some baking which was really fun. We made "slutty" brownies, and if you have no idea what I am talking about check out the pictures on this blogpost! They are basically gooey brownies with a cookie base and Oreas in the middle. So heaven! I'm going to bake some more in a couple of days to take back to all of my house mates.

My sister, Sarah and I took some funny pictures wearing our matching VS PINK hoodies. It's pretty hard to believe (and embarrassing!) that she is 6 years younger than me!

Tonight I'm going to my best friends house for a girlie sleepover which I am super excited for! I'm very luck to have such close friends and siblings.

Olivia Palermo for Ciaté London

Olivia Palermo for Ciaté London

   thumb_IMG_4458_1024

I have officially finished my January exams! It's so good to be back home and have such a huge weight off my shoulders, and I can't wait to get back into blogging again.

This morning mum and I got I quite early and took a trip to a shopping park. I needed to get some plain bedding for Homesense, but we also had a look in TK Maxx. Whenever I go to TK Maxx I always have a look at their beauty section. They often have some great brands, and if you can find one that hasn't yet been opened it is a really great deal!

 thumb_IMG_4449_1024

If you were to ask me who my style icon would be Olivia Palermo would probably be my first answer. She manages to look effortless, yet so put together at the same time, and her makeup and hair are always beautiful. So when I heard that she was collaborating with Ciaté London I was very excited.

I was so amazed to spot this gorgeous Olivia Palermo lipstick in TK Maxx, especially as the collection is still fairly recent. This browny nude lipstick in the shade Praline is right up my street and I think this will be perfect for everyday and matching with a smokey eye. The gold packaging is gorgeous and I'm sure that the quality will be just as lovely.

thumb_IMG_4442_1024

I also spotted the most beautiful Olivia Palermo nail polishes in white boxes with gold writing. They were properly sealed in cellophane so I knew they were new and unopened. TK Maxx had three different shades, all about half price.

thumb_IMG_4454_1024

In the end I went for Hutch, Olivia's go to red and Sunday's, her off duty nude. Olivia is often wearing an amazing red nail polish and I can't wait to try this one. It looks like the perfect true red. This baby pink also looks so pretty and perfect for just a simple natural colour.

I haven't yet tried either of these, need to decide which colour I am going to go for first! Although I have opened them both up and they both have the tall brush handle but also a nice thick brush, so I am already very impressed.

I think these Olivia Palermo x Ciaté London deserve to go on display somewhere in my bedroom as they are just so beautiful. Olivia's style has yet again left me in owe.

I am off to meet by best friend soon and brave the typical English rain for a dog walk! But I think I will treat myself to a nice manicure this evening.

Life Lately

Life Lately

thumb_IMG_2096_1024

I can't wait until all my exams and interviews are over and I can fall back in love with blogging again. I am so upset that it has had to take a back seat while I revise but I guess that is just how it is. Although I did manage to get my camera out a few times yesterday so I though I would share the pictures with you.

I'm loving curling up with a white hot chocolate in my new mug and reading some magazines and catalogues. I love The White Company, they have so many beautiful pieces.

thumb_IMG_2098_1024

I've been burning this candle that I got recently while revising. Now that I have finished all of my Christmas candles it's nice to have sweet and refreshing. Also this is really pretty! Before I started to burn it there were little stars on the top.

thumb_IMG_2101_1024

I recently did an ASOS order and it arrived the other day! I already had the grey Calvin Klein cotton bra that I basically live in. It is the softest comfiest thing and perfect for lounging around the house when you don't want an underwire bra but you don't feel you can go braless either! I've wanted the matching pants for so long so I finally treated myself. They fit perfectly and are just as comfy. Now I just need the model figure to wear this!

  thumb_IMG_2099_1024

ASOS do free delivery for orders over £20 and naturally my Calvin Klein pants were under. So to get my free delivery I also treated myself to this little bracelet. Orelia is a brand that I love that do beautiful delicate and minimal pieces. Before I could only ever find them at Topshop so I am very excited that ASOS also stock this brand. This little bracelet was in the sale and I think it will be perfect for layering with some different delicate pieces.

Hope you like this little post. I have a list in my notepad of so many posts I want to write. It's just trying to find the time to write them all!

Victoria's Secret and PINK Haul

Victoria's Secret and PINK Haul

thumb_IMG_2078_1024

For those of you that don't already know, I am lucky enough to be a VS PINK Campus Representative at the University of Manchester. So far it has been such an amazing experience, with so many laughs and so much fun. And I'm just so excited for what next term has to offer.

As a thank you for all my work this last term I was lucky enough to receive a VS gift card to treat myself in the store! I am obviously a huge fan of VS and PINK and since being at uni I have been living in the comfy leggings, lounge pants and cosy hoodies from PINK!

thumb_IMG_2079_1024

But before I showed you my favourite purchase I thought I would share with you the couple of beauty bits that I picked up. The first is this gorgeous VS body lotion called Secret Charm. To be honest I was a bit sceptical about VS Body Lotions. I was worried that this was just going to look beautiful and smell amazing but not actually do anything for hydration my skin. But I used this before bed on my legs the other night and woke up with legs that hadn't felt so soft in ages! Plus yes, this does smell incredible.

thumb_IMG_2080_1024

The other beauty product that I got was the VS PINK sweet and flirty body mist. And it does make me very happy that they are both lilac and look really cute on my shelves. I am trying to save this one until it is a little warmer as it is definitely more of a fruit Summer scent. But it smells so lovely and fresh and I have found myself reaching for this one a lot lately on days where perfume seems a bit too much!

thumb_IMG_2081_1024

Finally the best thing I bought! VS PINK hoodies are amazing! They look so flattering and slightly sporting and they are just the perfect thing for a student spending a lot of time in the house working or lounging around. I already have a grey and navy half zip one which I live in so I knew as soon as I got my gift card that I was going to get another one.

I fell in love with this simple khaki zip up hoodie with PINK written on the sleeves. It is so comfy and perfect and I've been wearing this at home all today with my PINK leggings or when I actually have to leave the house with jeans and a black gilet.

Hope you like my VS and PINK haul. They also both have a great sale on at the moment so definitely go and check that one out. And I actually still have a little bit of money left on my gift card to spend so let me know what your favourite PINK and VS products are of if there is anything in particular you recommend I get my hands on. New Years Aspirations

New Years Aspirations

thumb_IMG_2059_1024

Firstly Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a great New Years Eve whatever you were doing!

I'm a big fan of setting myself goals to work towards so it may come as no surprise that my first post of 2016 will be my New Years Aspirations. I set goals daily in the form of to do lists and things that I want to get done. But having yearly goals means that I am able to break a habit or change my lifestyle and generally to grow and learn as a person.

So in no particular order here are my 10 aspirations for this year.

LIVE WITH LESS

If I don't use it or don't wear it then I probably don't need it. I've really been loving a more minimal style recently and I want to carry that through to the rest of my life to avoid clutter and unnecessary stuff.

DRINK MORE WATER

I am always setting myself this goal. I do drink water and green tea, but nowhere near as much as I should. Maybe this will be the year that I make the change.

BE BALANCED

Work and uni and everything can get so stressful. This year I want to find more time for myself to relax, maybe have a bubble bath or to some yoga and just take a well deserved break.

WRITE EVERYTHING IN MY DIARY

I am a pretty organised person but I not so good at writing all my events and commitments into my diary. Doing this will mean that I am better able to plan my time and work.

WORRY LESS

I'm not sure that I will ever be able to break out of this habit. I am the worst person when it comes to worrying about all possible scenarios before they ever even happen. I really need to learn that stressing and worrying never helped anyone and there is usually nothing I can do to change something.

READ MORE BOOKS

I love the feeling when you get so into a really good book and you can't even put it down. The sad thing is I only usually manage to find the time to read on holiday. This year I am going to try to cut down on the Netflix and make time for some good books.

MAKE MORE TIME FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

One of my biggest fears is looking back and wishing that I spent more time with certain people. I am so lucky that I have friends and family that understand I am busy and never hold that against me. Some of my closest friends I only see a couple of times a year now that we are spread all over the country at different universities. But a letter or a text can go a long way.

WRITE LETTERS

I love receiving letters. In fact while I am at university I write to my grandparents nearly once a week. A letter means so much more than a text and I want to write more letters to people while I am at university this year.

SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA

I dread to think how many hours a day I spend staring at a screen. I can be scrolling though social media until my thumbs hurt and all it does is make me envious of other people and their figures and holidays and clothes. Social media is such an amazing powerful tool. But I need to learn to use it in a positive way.

TRAVEL MORE

This doesn't have to mean spending loads of money on fancy holidays. This year I would love to go to Edinburgh and pretty villages in the UK as a break from uni. And then maybe save up to go to somewhere in Italy on a city break.

So here is to an amazing new year! Bring on 2016! xx

TRAVEL MORE
