Collar Combinations

Collar Combinations

If I were to try and describe my style to you the word "preppy" would probably have to be used. I just love a good collared shirt. They look smart and polished, are basically an accessory and they add another layer of warmth especially on these chilly days. I can wear these combinations at school with a suit skirt and a blazer and then at the weekend with a pair of skinny jeans. Which explains why skirts and jumpers take up nearly half of my entire wardrobe.

My advice when picking a collar and jumper combination is to keep everything fairly simple. If your shirt is patterned then pick a plain jumper and if you jumper is patterned then try and pick a shirt that is the same as one of the colours in the jumper. Or play around with different textures such as knitted jumper, flannel shirts and lace collars. There are so many different styles and ways to wear this combination.

So here is how I wear my collared shirts and I hope that they act as some inspiration for you. I'm going to stop before I start waffling about my love for collars!

A little sale shopping...

A little sale shopping...

January wouldn't be January without a little bit of sale shopping. And this year I managed to do all of mine without leaving my desk. One of my New Years resolutions this year has been to only buy things that I truly love. What's the point in buying a top for £5 in the sale if you never wear it? It's not a bargain, just a waste of money.

So I'm totally obsessed with all of these items and can't wait to wear them. I'm having a bit of a star print obsession at the moment and the navy top is just my favourite thing right now.
So if you haven't already done some sale shopping, hurry, cus I feel like I'm snatching up all the good stuff!

Jack Wills Star print top - Was £24.50  Now £19.00

Accessorize navy sequin clutch - Was £19.00  Now £15.00

Accessorize statement necklace - Was £19.50  Now £7.50 (I think)

New Year, New Me

New Year, New Me

I'm not usually the sort of person to make New Years Resolutions, they leave me feeling disappointed and annoyed that I have very little self control (particularly over chocolate). But this year it really is a New Year, New Me, and with this comes a list of things that I WILL keep to.

I've tried to keep my resolutions fairly short and simple. So here goes...

  1. Drink more water - I say this all the time, but like a lot of people I'm just not having enough water. I want to get to the stage where I'm asking for iced water rather than a Diet Coke in a restaurant. And then maybe my skin will thank me for it too.
  2. Do 50 sit ups before bed - I actually used to do this when I was about 15 and suddenly felt really insecure about my body. The results were pretty good and started to show quite quickly so I really want to get back into this habit.
  3. Go on a run once a week - I used to be a really a really good runner and did competitions and everything. But like a lot of other things I grew up lost interest and lost any talent I once had. It's one of my biggest regrets. But this year I want to start running again, its such a great way to clear my head and I feel so good afterwards. And maybe it will give me an excuse to buy one of those beautiful pairs of Nike trainers!
  4. Don't pick off my nail polish - its a bad habit that's ruining my nails, it needs to stop.
  5. Be more adventurous with food - I am the worlds fussiest eater and its getting embarrassing. The only place I can go to dinner is Pizza Express and even there I will only order a Margarita with ham. I want to be able to go out to a classy restaurant and not have to worry if they do chicken strips and chips!
So that's my list. I thought I should stick to five so they might actually be achievable! Let me know what your New Years resolutions are because I'd love to know.

Mad About Maroon

Mad about Maroon

That kind of Maroon berry colour is everywhere at the moment and it is my favourite shade for Autumn and Winter. Its warm, classic, very classy and a bit bold. So here's just a little peak at how I will be wearing this colour.

Jeans - Primark
Soft and stretchy and so easy to wear. I like to wear mine with a navy, grey or black jumper and some nice winter boots.
Loafers - Primark (last season, sorry)
Comfy as anything and look lovely with jeans and dresses.
Bow flats - Primark...there's a bit of a trend here!
I fell in love with these straight away. They are so cute and I think they look a lot more expensive than the £5 they actually were!
Leather Clutch - Gift from last years A/W London Fashion Weekend
This is perfect for dinners and parties. I love to pair mine with a monochrome outfit and the Rimmel lipstick as a pop of colour.
Natural collection nail polish - Black cherry
Such a pretty colour. It needs a couple of coats, but for less than £2 you can't really go wrong.
Essie nail polish - Bahama Mama and Thigh High
Bahama Mama I more pinky and it really pretty on the nails. And Thigh High is my most recent Essie nail polish and I love it so much. Its the perfect Christmassy colour, yes, I'm thinking about Christmas already!
Rimmel lip stick - 128 Starry-eyed
This is just the most beautiful colour and formula and is by far my favourite lipstick this season. I like to put it on top of lip balm and rub in with my finger for a more natural daytime look and then on matt lips for a really vampy strong colour which is perfect for evenings.
