Revision Breaks

Revision Breaks

thumb_IMG_2957_1024

And award for the most boring blogpost title goes to...me! Apologies! Revision (and hardly leaving the house) has actually started to turn my brain to mush. Not a good thing to be saying a couple of days before my first exam! Anyway, I thought I would step away from my coloured pens and spider diagrams to share some things that are actually keeping me sane right now!

thumb_IMG_2954_1024

Green smoothies! I know I wouldn't have guessed it either. My aim of being more healthy has now lead to me drinking something that looks a bit like pond algae! But while some forms of algae are apparently good for you I haven't gone that far yet! This one actually tastes good, promise. It's a kale, banana and kiwi smoothie with a little bit of honey for sweetness. Poured over some ice and with a matching green straw this has started to replace my afternoon iced caramel coffee! And my mum loves it too!

thumb_IMG_2952_1024

Was so sweet to find these waiting in my bedroom when I got home from uni last week! My family are just the cutest!

thumb_IMG_2871_1024

Another attempt to be a little healthier! Salads that actually leave me more full than a sandwich have been my favourite lunch recently. Just a lot of fresh green leaves, some cheese, parma ham and some salad dressing. Super quick to make and really yummy.

thumb_IMG_2956_1024

How cute are my little cacti candles that my mum got for me? I love candles and cacti, so it really is a match made in heaven. They also smell really good, but sadly they are only tiny so they didn't last very long.

I feel like I should stop procrastinating and get back to revision again! By the end of next week my exams will all be over and I can get back to spending more time on my blog. I can't wait to get writing some more frequent posts on here.

L'occitane Freebies

L'occitane Freebies

thumb_IMG_2837_1024

A couple of weeks ago my friend forwarded me an email about a free L'occitane gift set when you give your email address. And while, if I am honest I am not a huge fan of giving my email address to brands. I already receive what feels like hundreds of emails a day trying to sell me the latest collection of something or other, that I just don't bother reading anymore! But this way I got a free beauty gift - and I'm not one to say no to that!

thumb_IMG_2839_1024

So after picking up my free Nero coffee with O2 Priority (student life!) I collected my little box of L'occitane minis. The travel set came in the most beautiful packaging, with four little travel products inside. The one that I noticed first was the little hand cream as I actually tried this one not too long ago and really loved it. This tube is even smaller though and I am going to try and save this one for when I am using clutch bags as I think it will be perfect for that.

But my favourite of the four would have to be the little yellow tub of face cream. It's very thick and incredibly moisturising so I have only been using this once or twice a week as to not clog up my pores. My skin isn't actually too dry at the moment anyway. But the morning after using this my skin just feels so lovely and plump! It also smells really luxurious and a little bit goes a really long way so I still have a fair amount of this left.

I am yet to try the shampoo and shower gel. I think that I will probably save them for my holiday this Summer. Although that said I am slightly more sceptical to try the shampoo for some reason. But maybe this will be a good one for every one to two weeks just to strip back all the other product build up.

thumb_IMG_2922_1024

Let me know if you have tried any L'occitane products that you love. It is still a brand that I am quite new too, but I think they do some lovely things that would make really good presents.

Bombers and Backpacks

Bombers and Backpacks

thumb_IMG_2920_1024

To celebrate the end of term, multiple finished deadlines and finally getting to leave my desk I went with a group of my course mates on a day trip in the May sunshine. After nearly two years I finally left the city of Manchester to explore some surrounding areas in the North - and it was beautiful. The little town we went to was called Knutsford, where we spend the day wondering the cobbled streets, sitting in cafes and picnicing by the lake in the most amazing park.

One of the perks of being about with a group of fashion students, all with their own blogs (which I will leave linked below) is that a photoshoot was bound to happen!

thumb_IMG_2926_1024

I have been meaning to share this bomber jacket on my blog ever since I bought it a couple of weeks ago, and with these lovely pictures taken by my friends Maddie and Vicky, I finally get the chance. This is actually the first thing that I have ever ordered from Miss Guided! I know, considering how often I shop online I can't quite get my head around it either!  But bomber jackets are really having a moment right now, and I wanted to join the trend but with something a bit different to the typical khaki and black Topshop bomber jackets that everyone seems to have.

It was the colour that first caught my eye of this jacket, the beautiful mauve that actually looks almost lilac. Perfect for Spring and adding a feminine touch to a more masculine style jacket. The other thing that I really love about this jacket is the two tone fabrics, the satin and then more of a crepe fabric on the top half of the jacket. It's a lovely extra detail that makes this bomber feel a little bit different.

I have been wearing this a lot recently while the weather is still trying to decide if it is going to let us have a lovely hot Summer!

What I am wearing:

Bomber jacket - Miss Guided
Jeans - Topshop
Cami - River Island
Backpack - Accessorize
Trainers - Adidas (Stan Smiths)
Sunglasses - H&M

These are actually my favourite shoes right now, and I am not proud to admit that I have bought a few pairs of shoes recently! These are just so comfy and cool and I just love how they make an outfit look really casual for Summer. I just hope I can keep them this white forever!

I am actually writing this from home (Kent) as I came back on Sunday to revise, before going back up to Manchester for my exams. It is so lovely to be back, although not so lovely to be spending most of the time sat at my desk working. And after a beautiful day like this on Saturday I can't wait for Summer, and day trips like this in the sunshine. Maybe I won't even need to wear my jacket by then!

But for now I need to apologies once again for not being as active on my blog as I would like to be. But thank you for staying with my while I get through coursework deadlines, and right now my exams.

Matte Grey

Matte Grey

thumb_IMG_2808_1024

Another day, more grey! Apart from this time on my nails...well, and my jumper is grey! I'm not sure that I will ever get bored of wearing this colour. In my opinion, nothing beats a pair of skinny jeans and a slouchy grey jumper.

thumb_IMG_2809_1024

The nail polish that I am wearing is from Essie, obviously! It is the shade Urban Jungle which is a beautiful off-white beige grey. Like I mentioned in my April Favourites I am really loving wearing nude nail polishes at the moment. They look so sophisticated and perfectly complement every outfit as well as both gold and silver jewellery.

thumb_IMG_2810_1024

I'm also wearing this gorgeous matte top coat from Accessorize, that my sister got me. I used to have another matte top coat a couple of years ago when it was a huge trend, but these nail polishes seem to go gloopey and horrible a lot quicker. I haven't tried any other nail polishes from Accessorize before but I really love the beautiful rose gold packaging. The nail polish brush is pretty thick so the top coat is easy to apply, and I was really impressed by how quickly it dried. I tend to find that using a matte top coat helps to fuse all the layers of nail polish together and generally helps my nail polish to last a few extra days too.

Hope you enjoyed this little post. I feel like I haven't spoken about nail polishes on my blog for ages, as recently I have been trying to strengthen and grow my nails and tend to only wear Essie Grow Stronger base coat. But I do have another nail polish related post planned for very soon as well.

Three Years

Three Years

thumb_IMG_2840_1024

So I will try not to make this too soppy, but as this is more of a lifestyle blog I thought it would be okay to mention it.

So today is mine and my boyfriend, Jack's 3 year anniversary. How crazy is that?!
I still remember when we walked to the park together after school and he had plucked up the courage to ask me if even though we were close to exams I wanted to be his girlfriend! I had braces and we were both so shy and awkward!

I'm so lucky to have someone that has stuck by me through the highs and the lows of the last 3 years. And even though he is miles away and right now I can only see him every few weeks while we are at uni, he is always just a text or a phone call away. So thank you technology!

Can't wait to get through our exams so we can spend a Summer together - even though we will both be working in London! As is life!

April Favourites

April Favourites

thumb_IMG_2834_1024

Hope everyone has had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. My best friend came up from Leeds and we went out on Friday night and then spent most of Saturday chilling. But apart from that I have just been getting a lot of coursework done and out the way so that I can move onto some revision. How exciting is my life!

Anyway, here are some of the amazing products that I have been loving during the month of  April. And I think I will start with my favourite favourite.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour - Seduction
If I am right these are fairly new releases, but I had heard good things so I wanted to try one out. I honestly can't rave enough about this product. In fact I think I might have to try a couple more of the shades and then dedicate a whole post to them! It is like applying a lipgloss, with this shade I would even apply without a mirror. But they dry down slightly and stay put for ages. And even after hours when they do start to fade, it is pretty even and still leaves a lovely colour on the lips. They also smell like Parma Violets!

Essie Nail Polish - Urban Jungle
I'm all about nude nail polish at the moment. It doesn't feel right to wear dark Wintery shades now that we are in May, but at the same time it is still too cold for bright Summer colours. This shade is a beautiful off-white that comes up slightly beige/pink. It's very flattering, looks lovely with both gold and silver jewellery and compliments every outfit. And of course, I just can't fault Essie nail polishes. Watch out for a post about my favourite nude Essie shades coming soon!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
So many bloggers and Youtubers had said this was their favourite mascara, so when I bought it a couple of months ago and tried it for the first time I was really disappointed. However last month I felt my Benefit Roller Lash mascara might be getting a little old so I swapped it out and decided to try this one again. This time I got along with this much better and love how it makes my lashes look. It really defines and volumises my lashes and is perfect for everyday but can really be built up to something that can look like false lashes. Really love this and am so glad that I gave it another try!

Eau Thermale Avene Cleanance Mask
At the end of this month my skin had a bit of a moment, I'm not totally sure why. Thankfully it has almost cleared up now and I think it is partly down to this mask. This is a really great one for blemish-prone skin and leaves my skin feeling so clean without feeling stripped or dry. Also this is a great quick one to leave on for 5 minutes while you are brushing your teeth or something!

Real Techniques Bold Metals - 300 and 200
I have been meaning to talk about these brushes for a while now, aren't they beautiful! I love all of them but thought I would share with you my two favourites. My first favourite is the rose gold 300 brush which I have been using for blushes. It's so soft and the perfect size to make sure the blushes is just going on the apples of my cheeks. My other favourite is the silver 200 brush which is the perfect blending brush. I am honestly not sure what I did before I had this in my collection! It is perfect for eyeshadow in the crease and making sure that everything is really blended and smooth.

Calvin Klein Pink Bralette
I am sure that I have talked about my love for Calvin Klein bralettes before on my blog. In fact I am wearing my grey one now a I type this! They are honestly the most comfortable thing and still look really cool! I think this pastel pink shade will look lovely in Summer either with a white tank top and shorts or just for lounging around at home in.

Now that May is here I am officially so excited for Summer! I actually just booked my holiday this morning! I just hope that the weather warms up again soon.
