May Favourites

May Favourites

It's a bit of a random collection of products that I have been loving this month. And I haven't really bought many new products so I've been turning back to some old favourites. So lets get into it.

Body Shop eyeliner - Pure Gold
I picked this up a while back when The Body Shop were having a small sale on a few makeup products. It was about £2, looked pretty and I just couldn't resist. I only found it again earlier this month when I was sorting through all of my makeup and now I can't stop using it. I love using it on my lower lash line or in the inner corners of my eyes as it really brightens them and looks so nice and summery.

Natural Collection eyeshadow - Barley
This is a lovely warm shade of gold that goes perfectly with the Body Shop Pure Gold eyeliner. I've started to get a little bit more of a tan (mostly from a bottle and a good bronzer!) and I think that gold eye makeup really compliments a more tanned complexion. This was also only £1.99 and I was really surprised by how good the quality is. I have quite a few of these Natural Collection eyeshadow pots as they are good for travelling and for less than £2 you can't really go wrong!

Essie nail polish - Lilacism
You can tell that Spring/Summer is basically here now becuase I am all over pastel nail polish. The one that I have been wearing most of this month is this gorgeous lilac colour from Essie. It's so feminine and pretty and such amazing quality, as can only be expected from Essie.

Dove Summer Glow Nourishing Lotion - Medium to dark
I'm not at all experienced when it comes to tanning. I tend to make the decision that I would prefer to be natural and pale than orange and blotchy, so I stay away from fake tan. But one thing I do use and I love are gradual tanning moisturisers. If I know I have a party or an event then a week or so before I will do a couple of fully body gradual tanning moisturising sessions. This one from Dove is the best that I have tried so far. It gives a lovely colour that is definitely more brown than orange and with 1-2 coats still looks pretty natural. It has a little bit of a smell, not at all a bad one and not biscuity but it does have a smell. But until I get a really tan in summer I will be be sticking with this.

Foxes - Glorious
So this is the first time that I have ever mentioned music on my monthly favourites but I first heard Foxes earlier this month and I have just been listening to her music on repeat ever since. My favourite songs on the album are "Holding on to heaven", "Let go for tonight" and "Youth". She has such a great voice and her music is just happy and summery and its been a long time since I found an artist that I have liked this much. Her album Glorious is available on iTunes now so definitely go and give her a listen.

Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mask Review

Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mask Review

As you may know I have really been loving the cream cleanser, tones and moisturiser from this Body Shop range. So on my last trip to the Body Shop I decided to try this face mask which it was on a 3 for 2. I'd heard good things about it on an Amelia Liana video so I had pretty high expectations, and amazingly all of these were met.

The texture of the product is sort of mousse like and thick so it feels really moisturising as soon as you put it on your skin. I use it two to three times a week after I take my makeup off and cleanse my face. You simply apply it to clean, dry skin for 5-15 minutes, then wipe it off with a cotton pad. Afterwards I moisturise and then I'm good to go (usually to bed!). When I wake up in the morning my skin just feels so plumped and moisturised. I would use this everyday if I could but it is a mask so two to three times is enough and there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I really can't say enough good things about this mask or this whole Body Shop range. It is £12 which for someone like me it is a little more expensive as I would usually go. But a little goes such a long way and if you can get it on an offer like I did then I really would recommend this. And if you're not quite swayed yet then it also smells really good which is a definite thumbs up from me!

New Makeup Storage

New Makeup Storage

Okay, I'll just admit it. I've fallen for that whole Muji makeup storage craze! I'd had enough of storing all of my makeup in washbags and makeup bags and never being able to find anything. So I went ahead and bought myself two Muji wide makeup drawers, one with a flip top and one without. I have to admit I probably ordered these over a month ago and they only arrived last week, so not very impressed my that. But now they have arrived and I have sorted and cleaned and arranged all my makeup I am so happy with it.

The drawers are clear plastic which means it so easy to see and find everything. I think they look really neat and tidy and it has made my job of finding my makeup a lot quicker in the morning. Getting these drawers also forced me into sorting through all of my makeup and throwing the old/never used products away, a very long overdue task! The only thing is that I am slightly worried by how much makeup I already had. No way did I expect to fill all four of these drawers straight away, but now if I want any more products (particularly lip) then I'm going to be needed some more drawers!

So if you haven't already joined this craze then I really recommend it. I now see what all the hype is about. It's changed the way that I use my makeup and now that I can see everything I have I'm not just reaching for the same products everyday, instead I'm being more adventurous and getting use out of everything.

My Last Day Of School Ever

My Last Day Of School Ever

The Friday just gone marked the last day of my school career. It was pretty emotional although surprisingly I didn't cry because I don't think it has really suck in yet. And also I will be going back to school on the days that I have exams anyway. This isn't a beauty or fashion post but I though I'd talk a bit about the day and then show you some photos cus I took my camera to school and got some really nice shots.

We got to school for 10am which was lovely as it meant I had a nice lie in and woke up with time to curl my hair! When we got to school we had a nice cooked breakfast as a year group before going over to our last ever assembly. In the assembly the end of year film and pictures were shown and each tutor group gave their form tutors a present and gave a little speech.

After we had a final year photo in our uniforms which took forever to organise as can only be expected. Then we all ran off and got changed into our costume for the silly photograph. I wore my panda onesie with my group of friends who all wore different animal onesies. Once the photos had finished we all got changed into some casual clothes and headed up to the rugby field at the top of school. Here we found the school had hired out dodgems which was so much fun (and a little painful!). So we all went on the dodgems including the teachers and had a barbecue and ate Ben and Jerry's ice cream. And thankfully the sun was shining and it was such a beautiful day.

In the evening we came back to school in our smart clothes for a posh dinner in our tutor groups followed by plenty of photos. Then there was bible service where there were speeches and singing and we were each handed our bible by the headmaster. After we all headed back to the refectory with the teachers and parents where we received our yearbooks and drank wine and there was lots of hugging and tears. After I headed over to my friends house and we had an awesome celebratory party at his, with plenty of singing and dancing.

I've only been at this school for 2 years but I just fell in love with everything about it. I've made some amazing friends and met my boyfriends and I think I have really changed since going here. I'm going to miss school so much, definitely the people more than the lessons though. It's emotional that such a huge part of my life is coming to an end and now I'm heading on out into the big wide world but it's exciting at the same time.

Colour Me Coral: Lip Picks

Colour Me Coral: Lip Picks

Maybelline Coloursensational Shine Gloss | 17 Lasting Finish Lipstick | Topshop Lipstick | Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm | Rimmel London Moisture Renew | MaXfactor Lipstick

MaXfactor Lipstick | Rimmel London Moisture Renew | Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm | Topshop Lipstick | 17 Lasting Finish Lipstick | Maybelline Coloursensational Shine Gloss

Maybelline Coloursensational Shine Gloss - Cashmere Rose
So after years of hating lipgloss becuase it's sticky and and my hair gets stuck in it I have finally found one that I love. And I really do love it. I looks perfect and natural on it's own or over the top of any of these other colours.

17 Lasting Finish Lipstick - Honey Blossom
This is a beautiful shimmery pinky coral and it just reminds me of Spring and Summer. I've had it for a while and the formula is really lovely and glossy.

Topshop Lipstick  - Oh La La
The first ever Topshop lipstick that I have owned and I am just so impressed with the formula. Think the bright coral would look amazing in summer with a tan and a bit of mascara for that Parisian Chic makeup look. For my full review of this click here.

Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm - Demure
This isn't really coral but I love it so much that I had to include it. It's a beautiful glitetry baby pink that looks stunning under the Maybelline Shine Gloss. For a full review of this click here.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew - Saved By The Bell
Firstly the quality of these lipsticks are amazing, definitely going to be getting a few more. The colour of this is pretty similar to the 17 Honey Blossom Lipstick but it is less pinky and more nude. But this is the only thing that I have been wearing on my lips for the last week.

MaXfactor Lipstick - Pink Brandy 825
I really love the coral colour of this as it's summery but not really bold so it's easy to pull off. I've also done a full reviews of two of these MaXfactor lipsticks that I have including this colour which you can find here

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I picked this up last weekend and I have been trying it out everyday since. I know that is probably not long enough to write a review of the product so this is more of a first impressions post. But I am really undecided and have really mixed opinions and though it would be interesting to let you know my views so far.

Pros:

  • This removes make up really well - before I have always just asked face wipes to take of my makeup before I do my whole face routine. And I know they aren't meant to be very good but they work really well for me. The only thing I did find was that when I woke up in the morning I would still have some black under my eyes from my mascara or eyeliner. This has none of that, it completely removes every single bit of makeup on my face.
  • The price - I haven't tried Bioderma and don't really know much about it but from what I gather it's fairly expensive and this is only £3.99 for 400ml at the moment in Boots!
  • The product is gentle - after using this my skin feels fresh but not stripped and it doesn't feel dry or tight which I thought was going to be a problem.
  • Really easy and simple to use - just pour a little bit onto a cotton pad and wipe your makeup away. And they bottle is really good and effective.
Cons
  • Stung my eyes a bit - it says you can use it to remove eye makeup so naturally I closed my eyes and then gently wiped my makeup away. But the product still got into my eyes and when it did I found it stung a bit and was kind of uncomfortable. I don't know whether I was doing this wrong or something. Now I have to work really carefully not to get any of this in my eye which is pretty difficult and takes a lot longer.
  • Cotton pads - I don't think I wear a ridiculous amount of makeup at all but to remove all my make up using this product took my 5-6 cotton pads. And that was with trying to use both sides. Compared to only needing one of two face wipes I wasn't sure how I felt about this.
So as you can see I'm really mixed about this product. There are things that I like about it and things that I don't like. I think that I am going to use a make up wipe first to take of the majority of my makeup and then use this to really make sure that everything is completely off my face. Hope this review/first impression was helpful to anybody thinking about buying this product. And if you have tried it then I would love to know what you think or if you have any other product recommendations that you think I would get on better with.
Thanks for reading :) xx

New Statement Necklace

New Statement Necklace

This is the new statement Accessorize necklace that I bought last weekend that I have been so excited to show you. I am just in love with it and think it would look lovely with so many different things. What I really like about this necklace is that it is fairly subtle for a statement necklace so it can still be worn just everyday to dress up a plain jumper and a pair of jeans. And with the weather at the moment in England it seems like that's what I'm going to be wearing a lot. I also love the colours of like necklace as they are very simple and mean that it will go with nearly everything.

I can't wait until all of my revision and exams are over so I can start actually leaving the house and wearing this!

If you like this necklace then you can find it here:

Exams And A Blog Update

Exams And A Blog Update

So this is just a short post to let you know what is going to be going on on Penney Chic over the next month and a bit. Tomorrow marks the first day of my exams, and it's the 13th so that's a great start. But how cute are all my family for sending me these good luck cards? I also got some money and some chocolate but they are both already gone!

Anyway, over the last few months school has been cranking up the pressure but through a mix of revision and mocks and homework I like to think that I have managed to stay pretty active on my blog. However with exams actually starting I've decided that everything else needs to take a bit of a backseat. I haven't really had a social life for a while and I barely even have time to watch TV!

So this is just a post to apologise in advance for not being very active over the next few weeks. Lately I've been trying to post every other day but now I recon it is going to be more like once or twice a week. I have a long and ever growing list of post ideas and I have lots of exciting thing this summer to write about such as my leavers ball, girlie holiday to Majorca, Paris with my boyfriend, Cornwall with my family and Devon with my best friend, and of course my 18th birthday at the end of summer!

I know I'm a pretty new blog with not very many readers so this isn't really the best time to be going on a bit of a blog break or not posting as much. But I just wanted to thank everyone that does read and comment on my blog, it really means a lot. And I hope that you guys can wait for me to get my exams over with so I can get back to blogging as much as I would like. Thank you xx

P.S. Good luck to anyone else who also has exams coming up :)

A Little Shopping Trip...

A Little Shopping Trip...

Oops! So this all happened on my so called little break from revision! My first stop was at the Body Shop as I wanted to pick up the same vitamin e moisturiser that I tried not that long ago and get the night cream from the same range. But there was a three for two offer on skincare and makeup which basically meant that I got to pick something else up for free! So my love for face masks drew me to the vitamin e mask in this range. I've given it one go last night and so far so good, but expect a fully review coming shortly when I've given it a few good tries.

I had a list when I went into Boots of four things that I needed; bio oil, nose strips, Aussie 3 minute miracle and Herbal Essences hair mask. So saying that I actually did okay and the only other Beauty product that I picked up was the Garnier micellar cleansing water which I have never tried before but I have heard a lot about it and wanted to give it a go. So keep an eye on the blog for a post on my first impressions of that coming soon. And being on of the very few people who have never tried Bioderma I won't have a high end product to compare it to!

So all was going pretty well until I saw all the signs for a 3 for 2 on all makeup. Why do shops do this?! I don't know if anyone else does this but I watch a lot of beauty and makeup videos on YouTube and read a lot of blogs. And whenever I see a product that I like the look of or really want to try I write it down on a list on my phone, which is dangerous really as then I think I need it. Sometimes I get to Boots and the colour isn't what it looked like on the screen so I don't buy it. But most of the time when I have enough money I will pick it up. I've have heard so much about these Rimmel lipsticks and this colour looked gorgeous so I picked that one up. Then also I had had my eye for a while on this Boujois bronzing primer as with summer coming and me not really have seen any sun I starting to feel the need to fake it a bit more! Finally to complete my 3 for 2 I picked up this really simple matte brown shade for L'Oreal as it will be so versatile and I think it will just be one that I can wear everyday.

If you'd looked carefully at the first picture you might now be wondering if I'm going to talk about what's in the Accessorize bag. Well it's something wanted for such a long time and when I saw this in the shop just over a month ago it was perfect and since then I have just been saving up for it. But you're going to have to wait for a post all about what's in the Accessorize bag coming up in the next few days!
